i haven't had a horrible experience with any of them, but never went super cheap. Avis, Enterprise, and Alamo are what i've mainly used for many years. 1-4 trips per year with the best experience being Avis (easiest in/out via their "Preferred Select" program) now, the actual cars i've had...some of those have been horrible. the last one was a Corolla. not a bad car inside, but the lack of power made it almost dangerous in San Francisco area traffic when trying to merge, etc.

CostCo had competitive prices for rental cars, if you're a member, check it out.

I use Enterprise just about weekly. Can't complain about them. Just make sure to do a proper walk around to check for previous damage.

also,, check to see if one o' your credit cards offers a discount when u use it to rent a car; that's what we do, since it covers you insurance-wise, too,,

Yes, also if I remember correctly, if you have AAA, Hertz is normally discounted for them.

find most the discounts are bs as they boost the rate then give the discount - I'm a enterprise plus member and also have a national account discount with them -and they do that. also same thing I have found with others !
