The only problem I see with this, is the lack of a cage.. No track would allow a car boasting that much horsepower to run without one...

I was thinking the same thing. It probably doesn't have the transmission shields or any of the other safety items for the strip = Useless.

Those stock looking tires will also just spin at any speed with that kind of HP. I'd think the guy must have about $50K into that.

why in a Volvo think he find something with a bit more sporty look like a SMART CAR ~

The highest bid last time was about $7K, reserve not met.

As for V8 Volvo conversions, not unusual. People do it because it's then a perfect sleeper car that's not average but it's usually done with a Ford 5.0 from a Mustang donor car. There are companies that make kits for them so it's an easy bolt in.

this is far from a sleeper car .you can't hide the motor mods on this thing.

Q: Im looking for a nice car for my soon to be driving 16 year old daughter. I heard Volvos were very safe. I was just wondering if the a/c works well on this car and has the owner every smoked in it? My daughter is sensitive to cigarette smoke.

Should tell him that the wife's having trouble getting the kids to school on time with the Prius and ask if he thinks 2200HP might improve the situation

While our Smart Fortwo is certainly ultra cool and stylish, it just doesn't have enough power to get us to Church on time. Also, Ford now calls turbochargers "eco-boosters" so I'd imagine that with 4 "Eco-boosters", that Volvo must also get about 60MPG? Can you confirm my suspicions, aye or nay?

If that's the case did Saab do that already back in the 80's? Hell my car must have eco-boost as well being a TDI. I wonder what the repercussions will be in 5 years when the turbos start going bad. Because we all know that the average person does not take good care of their cars and having a turbo means you have to take extra good care to keep it all working properly.

Volvo had turbos starting in '81 but I think the reason Ford wants to call it something different is because GM (once again) gave turbos a bad name in the 70s, 80s. GM used them starting in '78 V6 Regals but they weren't water cooled, oil cooled only so they didn't last very long.
GM also left a bad taste in peoples months with diesels after they botched their poorly converted Olds 350 diesel engines (which was never really built to be a true diesel thus they failed early), late 70s-early 80s.

Man, haven't seen that one around. Looks pretty ugly but probably fun. He is about 45 mins. from where I live. What I have seen around is the Volvette which is closer, about 15 mins.

Sometimes I miss my old 740T wagon, but my V70 (and sadly recently departed 850R) is just so much faster, more solid and safer. Love that turbo 5cyl!
