Need some assistance..

Hey Guys.. I made a post a while back about what kind of speakers to put in the g/f's car. Well, I think I've pretty much decided on

these . Or something in this range. I really can't afford to spend more than $180 total on all 4 speakers. She's just going to be using the stock head unit that came in the car, so it's not like she's going to blow them or anything.

But, here's a question.. The car already has tweeters mounted above the inside door handles.. So would going with two ways be a waste of time? Should I go with just a couple of midranges in the front and some subs in the rear dash? What would give me the best all around sound for that money in this car? Any help you guys can offer is appreciated.. :)

I can recommend you some good mids, but you gotta tell me what size first :P

Here's some good ones: http://www.thezeb.com/p-CDT-Audio-CL-6- ... 101081.htm
They should defientely give off more bass than the factory speakers.

Thanks!

Yes they are, 6.5's all the way around. Want to replace all 4.. :) Would those do good for all four?

Something like this would be a good choice: http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdet ... er=264-832

It's got a ton of excursion (cone movement), so even if you were to amp it later on it could take the power.

Something like these would also be quite good, especially if the rears are freeair (playing into the trunk, using it as a huge enclosure, as opposed to small boxes): http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/showdetl ... er=290-350

These are pretty good for free air use as well:

Thanks Again..

So are you recommending the first set for the front and then any of the 2nd three for the rear? Yes, they will be free air, I'm only replacing the existing shitty stock speakers. :) I just wish this thing could take some 6x9's because they could put out a little more power.. lol

Thanks!

Yup, definetely recommending the CDT's for the front, they'll be better sounding.
They're probably thinner than the other ones, so they'll fit your doors better as well.

Also, you don't want as much mid and treble coming from the rears, hence my different recommendations :)

I'd probably go with the 290-350 because they're pretty cheap and spec as a good free-air driver.

You're not losing a whole lot of cone area by having a 6.5 instead of a 6x9, but it'd be nice if you could fit 8's!

Hey Viper,

It doesn't specify whether these are sold as a pair or not? it does say Midbass Speakers, but under quantity it says 1. Do you know if that's for a pair, or per speaker? Appreciate it.

Indeed, it looks like it's only for a single unit. In that case, scratch that :P

I recommend the Parts Express 290-350's for the rear...

I'm having a bit of trouble finding inexpensive 6.5's that aren't deep so they'll fit in the doors easily, and one which don't have tweets.
