During our development years, we were continuously approached by people around the world who wished to purchase a WaterCar. While we were flattered by the apparent market acceptance, we did not feel we had attained a level of reliability and maintainability consistent with our personal standards and those of our prospective buyers. It was difficult to say no for all those years, but the team was adamant that they would not sell a product that they would not purchase themselves. In 2013, the team realized the Panther achieved the quality, reliability, and maintainability that allowed them to offer the Panther for purchase.
Each Panther is a custom vehicle built by a incredible team of professionals who take great pride in what they build and how it ultimately performs. Each one is unique. We encourage each buyer's active participation in the final appearance of their vehicle. The range of interior and exterior fabrics, colors, and graphics is unlimited. WaterCar's ultimate goal is to build a vehicle that is a source of enjoyment to you and an ongoing source of pride to us.
We look forward to working with you to build your dream Panther!

Amphibious cars showed up decades ago, I think the '50s? Few people would ever want one IMO as they're neither great cars or great boats and not overly useful as either. They're novel but that's about it.

But that was with 50's tech.

Look at what they are building now! way better on and off road. You still have a valid point, It wont be great on land or water but it can do both.

Weight: 2950 lbs
Height: 69″ windshield up
: 51″ windshield down
: 44″ windshield down, wheels retracted
Length: 180″
Width: 72″
Water Speed: 44 mph
Land Speed: 55+ mph
Passengers: 4
Engine: Honda 3.7 liter VTEC
Transmission: 4 speed manual
Marine Propulsion: Panther Jet
Tire Size: 30X9.50R15
Brakes: Four wheel disc
Wheel Retraction: Hydraulic

(not giving you MPG makes you wonder )
will say 44 mph on water is pretty good. but I'd hate to be in it if a storm should come up.
Is a roof available?
a. A removable top is under consideration but not currently available.
Can you use the Panther in Saltwater?
a. With proper maintenance the Panther can be used in salt water. The Panther is constructed of non-corrosive materials wherever possible but, like any vessel exposed to salt water,it is recommended it be thoroughly rinsed with fresh water after use. A light spray with a lubricant like WD 40 will prevent corrosion.
so you better buy the gallon size with a sprayer of WD40 .
Can an automatic transmission be ordered?
a. Not at this time.
so you may not have to worry about the wife or teens taking it out for a joy ride :)
