Toyota’s fix not working, some owners say

Post by FlyingPenguin »

Not good when a freelance reporter has an acceleration incident right after getting the recall fix.

Sounds like the fixes involve trimming the gas pedal (which means they still think that the pedal is hanging on the mat, and most people think this has nothing to do with the main problem) and installing a piece of metal on the linkage to "eliminate friction".

As a tech I know how hard it is to fix an intermittent issue. I have the feeling that they don't have any real idea of what the major cause is, and they are trying to cover all bets at this point.

Thankfully my 2007 Camry seems not to be part of the recall.

You'd think if it is this widespread (per the media), they'd at least be able to get a few repeatable examples to base their recall on. Heck, I wouldn't recall crap unless I knew EXACTLY what was wrong.

talk about the perfect excuse for people from now on. "oh, my car just went out of control..."

i wonder how many false claims will be made about this.

Nissan just issued a recall on a few lines of their autos. Has something to do with a brake pin, possibly being able to come loose causing a driver to loose all brake ability.

I still think Nissan is the top car in the likes of Honda, Toyota and Hyundai.
