ok it may cost a bit more if they sold it here in the states i feel . and weigh a couple of pounds more , but i take it over that smart car if i was in the market for something in that size range .

but i think they still need to do some improvements to it .like add a stereo and hide the screws/rivets :)

This $600 car is no toy and is ready to be released in China next year.

The single seater aero car totes VW (Volkswagen) branding.

Volkswagen did a lot of very highly protected testing of this car in Germany, but it was not announced until now where the car would make it's first appearance.
The aero design proved essential to getting the desired result. The body is 3.47 meters long and just 1.25 meters wide, and a little over a meter high. The prototype was made completely of carbon fiber and is not painted to save weight.

The power plant is a one cylinder diesel positioned ahead of the rear axle and combined with an automatic shift controlled by a knob in the interior.

I'd buy one if I could fit in it.. For just around town. It looks like a small plane!

"They're all going to laugh at you!"

I suspect the main market for these will be countries with large but low income people.

Bah, I don't care what people think. I'd have to come up with a neat paint scheme though.. But with my height and size, that thing would be very claustrophobic.

or a deer, biker, pedestrian...or virtually any other object. i'd love something like this for the MPG, but i'd probably get a motorcycle before this.

Well, this does solve the #1 problem with motorcycles. No rain worries. I really couldn't say that I'd feel safe in this, especially with the amount of Expeditions & Escalades in our area.

You know that a car that's built that cheaply has NO safety features so even if it gets great gas mileage, what's your life worth in comparison? By those pics, it's way smaller than all the other vehicles, like being on a moped on the freeway....just not smart.

Mod it! :s mile

Put bigger tires on it. Who's good with photoshop? It would be funny to see it with big truck tires.

Probably safer on a motorcycle where you'ld have better odds being thrown off vs enclosed in crushing metal with glass.

Ditto that & it also wouldn't be nearly as maneuverable either. If, however, I lived in China or somewhere where the average car is a bicycle, then I'd be feeling pretty good in it.
