Thats an old trick. I used starting ether as a kid to inflate tires and seat the beads.

Starter fluid. Actually very dangerous, but sets the beat quickly which is nice (especially when you're on a trail). They have been known to blow up completely.

I prefer to use a rachet strap around the circumfrence. It squishes it onto the rim.
