Depends on the year of it. Im not sure exactly what year they started putting the sparkplugs 8 inches recessed into the cylinder head. Read my first post from this thread Exe, thats the issue with them.

also on the 4.6 ford v-8 they didn't allow for enough thread on the spark plugs so they can pop out due to compression as in my case .i was getting blow by and it was popping the spark plug wires right off the plug . this was repaired using the helli-coils :( at first do i thought i been buying new heads and that didn't even sound pretty to my ears (or pocket book ).

I had an F-150 with the Triton 5.4L V8 and it was a ROCK. I ended up scrapping it when the intake manifold wore out. But never had any problems with the cylinders or anything like that. It had 250k on it when I got rid of it.

the Triton 5.4L V8 is way better then the Triton 4.6 L V8 . on my truck the 4.6 runs the thing ok . but at times it seems a bit under powered.glad i dont tow very much with it . but i do carry a large payload most the time on my 2x4 extended cab 8 ft box .and having a high top aluminum cap .that weighs in at like 400lb plus empty and is 3 inchs or so higher then the cab .really hurts on mileage with wind blockage .
