Installing Keyless Entry..

If it's not one problem it's another.. Got a keyless entry kit a while back and it says this is supposed to be easy.. Uh Huh.. Sure.. I've been digging around in my car looking for the door lock relays for a few hours now and I can't find them. I have a Haynes manual somewhere and I will have to dig it out I guess.. But a question.. It recommends using the +12v on the Ignition harness but whenever I use that it I get sparks like it's a short and not a circuit.. Any thoughts or ideas? Any other +12v I might try to tie into? Perhaps the one on the stereo maybe or is there even a +12v that's always on, on the stereo?

Sorry if I'm not too clear on what I'm looking for.. I'm off to see if I can find an eBook or online manual for my car.. 94' GrandAm for those that want/need to know..
