Has anyone heard much about this movie? I haven't even seen a preview of it. Seems like they're not promoting it very strong so that may mean they have the utmost confidence in it or very little. Regardless, I'll be there opening weekend. :D

They say it's looking very intense and even has them talking about using the same director(Joe Johnstone) for part 4. Lot's of pics here too

Tea Leoni is so boring but at least Sam Neil is back and he was good in JP.

This is interesting:

"One of our main goals was to out T-Rex the T-Rex and that’s what we did," enthuses creature designer Stan Winston. "Now," he adds, "we were building a 24,000 pound character that was going to do battle with an 18,000 pound character in real life on the set. It’s a pretty amazing thing to see... We wanted to save some of the actual performance of the battle between these two big characters in real time to the end of the shooting schedule because we said, ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to go for it; we’re going to actually let them do battle and if we have to we’ll break them as long as we know we won’t have to shoot with them again.’ So we did the battle in post-production where the two characters get it on and there is some pretty awesome stuff that you’ll see on screen that is an actual battle. And, of course, there will be a lot of CG as well. In the real world, the Spinosaur literally ripped the head off the T-Rex. Hydraulic fluid was spraying all over the place. It was a pretty amazing thing."

Director Joe Johnston admits that it wasn’t exactly an even match, with the T-Rex being a 300 horsepower animatronic character and the Spinosaur being about 1,000. "We were getting some pretty good stuff," he says, "when T-Rex blew a hydraulic line. You could hear it all the way across the stages. It was like an oil well gushing. I had no idea what was going on except that T-Rex stopped because he lost all of his hydraulic pressure... So we patched him up and got a few more shots. I have to say that T-Rex was the loser in that battle. For JP4 they’ll have to build a new T-Rex."

Will it be any good? Well I highly doubt it will suck, I'm sure it'll be worth seeing for any JP fan... :)

I saw a small preview of it at the movie theater(?) a few weeks ago. Just those few seconds where enough for me to want to see that movie (me big dinosaur fan).
I believe this time it's some rich people that fly in a helicopter/airplane over the island and then they crash. Not sure about that anymore, but I remember something about a crash. :D

I think it looks badass. All the JP movies are, simply for the dinos :D

It looks like it will be more of the same, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, I've got both JP and JP2 on DVD :)
The new dinos look to be the Spinosaurus, and the Pterodactyl/Pteranadon.

Dr. Grant says >KJSEhflkahgsdfljshadlhf You cant land here are you insalen. then a bird of pray flys by the jet and eithor damages it or scares the piolet and they crash eithor way. from there the romp around the island and do standuard jurasic park things. I like the JP movies for the high quality sound. It's enough to give any home theater a workout.

Ok, some reviews are in from those that saw it at studio screenings and so far the word isn't sounding too positive. We get more dino's than the first 2 combined but as we saw from Lost World more isn't always better. First thing I learned I didn't like is the running time of just 92 minutes. But the directer defends that by saying:

The running time is around 94 minutes, but I still don't understand anyone's alarm with this. As I've said before, this film has more dinosaur shots, both CG and animatronic, than the other two Jurassic Parks combined. What is this hang-up with running time? Makes no sense. Do your readers think that longer is better? I could name a few recent long-winded dogs to refute that argument.

"Jurassic Park III" - A Review by 'Lorcan' (Negative, No Spoilers)

I had the opportunity to see this film at a Trade Screening, and let me tell you, it's a real disappointment. I went into this film with high hopes hearing, and reading, nothing but good things from such stars in the movie as William H. Macy, Sam Neill, and Tea Leoni, and also from Steven Spielberg. But as it turns out, there was almost nothing good about this film except a few great action sequences, which aren't even close to being enough to save this.

The script is very poor, with nothing but poor dialogue, and poor character development. Which I can see why considering re-writes were done on set. The movie also clocks in at 92 minutes, whch is bad considering it takes close to 25 minutes to get into anything you could relatively call a story. Also ideas from the previous two installments are completely recycled in this film. The pacing here is also a problem, there seems to be about 5-10 minutes of dialogue, and then another action sequence, which really just does not work at all here.

The performances were also very poor except from Sam Neill, who does a good job reprising his roll as Alan Grant. It really seems to me that this film was only made for the soul purpose of wasting money, and if that is so, they accomplished their task with ease!!! Rating = 4/10

here's one slightly better:

I won't go into too much detail, but there are some suspense sequences which work an absolute treat (the pteranodon sequence, and the boat sequence with the Spino is good) while others seem rushed and more than a little contrived. Ultimately, Johnston just doesn't have the courage of his convictions, and the film isn't anywhere as dark or nasty as it could, or should have been. Not enough people die, for one thing. The script is at times messy, as you might expect, and is hugely over-reliant on a hoary device of characters stopping in the middle of the action and suddenly detecting an important noise which can help them. There are also a couple of major holes in the plot, and yes the ending is a little abrupt. Performances are good, Sam Neill is a little older, surlier, while Bill Macy is his usual good value self (although his big comedy line - "It's hard not to feel a little insulted" wasn't there; shame).

But you want to know about the dinosaurs, don't you? Well, the effects are even better than before. With the possible exception of slightly fake CG pteranodons, the combination of CG and animatronics is seamless, while the Spino is every bit as kick-ass as had been mentioned. The raptors are under-used, though. As ever, they contribute to possibly the best sequence, where they set a trap for the humans, but then just fade out of contention. They're built up at the beginning to be super, hyper-intelligent, but their sporadic use is very disappointing. The pteranodons are mean and nasty, but once again under-used, though. Oh, and the big fight between T rex and Spino is effective, but once again way too short. As is the movie.

With a little more care, this could have been the best blockbuster of the summer; as it is, it smacks a little of a lost opportunity, leaving the original - still - as the King of the Dino flicks.

i'll still go see it. It's kinda odd, this year hasn't had any really good action movies. Summers are usually the big drawing time for action, but it's kinda been lame. Oh well.
