Post by wvjohn »

They use to be awesome. Still might be if you live close enough to them.

When I first started using them they would let you rent out 5 at a time and shipping was always quick, maybe in 2-3 days. You send them back in the same envelope so that part is easy and free. Then I could rent more than I could have time to watch.

Things have changed. I'ved used a few of their recent deals getting 2 weeks free and another 10 bux for a month. Now you can only rent out 3 at a time and shipping is painfully slow. And I am talking bad! The last free month I had I barely watched 6 movies because of the poor shipping so you bet I cancelled. Last 3 times I tried them shipping kept getting worse so I am done trying them anymore unless they have another free deal.

For 24.95 you can rent 5 at a time. 13.95 2 out at a time.

But try and see, it's free. :D Maybe shipping will be better for you.

That is the exact reason I never tried them out. I saw it coming. Also, I can't plan ahead for which type of movie I will be in the mood for at any given time. Just my 2.670456 cents. :D

Well, I use them all the time and I have had a mixed experince with them, but I realize the shipping WASN'T them, it was USPS. Shipping used to take 2 days (either way) and I was renting sooo many movies, but since tax time (around april 15) when USPS has been clogged with mail, some are taking as long as 5 days. Now some are still here within 2 days, but it depends on mail traffic (confused? Well, if my DVD is shipped on a Sat, I will ALWAYS get it by Tues.....sometimes even Mon!). My other mail is just as slow, so I realized it's not netflix. (As much as I wish I could blame them.) 80% of the time it arrives by the 'target date' (which is USPS's quoted 4-6 business days), so I guess that's still not that bad. My Que has over 300 movies in there and I know I then get a random movie, and if there is really a movie I want, I priortize it.....put it in Rank '1', so the only way I won't get it when they get my last movie is if they run out of stock (Which doesn't happen that often unless it is a REALLY REALLY popular movie. Now the shipping stuff (Location) doesn't make sense in my sitution....I Live in PA and they are based out of CA.....the entire US that the little DVD gets to travel just to get to me.....go figure.

I've been using them for about 3 weeks now. I took the 3-@-a-time plan and have watched, and sent back, 6 dvds with around a 2-day turn-around and I'm in NYC. So far I'm pretty satisfied with the service but If it starts getting slow, like some of you describe, I'll drop'em quicker'n a bad habit ;)

What I do is I just fill up my list and forget about it till the dvd's show-up as-a-matter of fact, thanks Blade ;) you turned me on to the service through one of your posts ;)

I have two dvd's that I'm watching tonite, anyone see where I put the Orville Reddenbacher :D

I was a member a while back. I dropped when they removed the 'I mailed it' button on your account menu. My turn around between rentals went from 2-4 days to an entire week. Agh, that sucked.

If they bring the returned it button back, I just may join up again.

I don't know what the deal is with getting DVD's to me then. If you're in NY and get yours in 2 days then why can't I? Glad you are though Rayzor. :)

Initially delivery was like that for me but last 2 times I tried them they suked real bad. Even when they emailed saying they received the DVD's back it'd take another 2 days to mail the new ones to me. I complained about the slow shipping but never heard back. But 6 DVD's in a month is rediculous.

I've had several not get here then I'd check the thing saying "lost DVD" and they'd send another. Each time though the lost DVD did eventually get here and they all were sent back to them. So it's not like any DVD's were lost. But I can't take that slow shipping, just not getting my moola's worth that way.

The local video store sent me a coupon book for $1 DVD's for 5 nites so I'll use that for a while.
