I really wanna see it now. I heard the first hour was boring, but the rest was good. I also heard they tried to put too much of a love theme into it--but then a friend at school said it was great and another buddie of mine liked it and said the chic in the "love story" was hot, so I gotta see it

Well, overall, I liked it. Yeah, it's 3 hours long, but that didn't bother me. It starts off with the 1st hour getting to know the characters and developing the love story plus getting us prepared for the bombing by showing how the Japanese planned it all out. The impending bombing was in the back of my mind and so it held some suspense. The 2nd hour was the big SFX display of the bombing, dog-fights, etc... action action action, it was great. The last hour was the American's prepping for the counter-attack bombing and then some more action. No, it wasn't perfect, but I'd say it's definately worth seeing and not as bad as the moron critics are making it out to be...
7/10

I find that movies with a fair share of characters in them have to have a fairly long introductory bit, otherwise you just don't care about the people on the screen. You can't identify with them at all simply because you only learn thier names. With the extended into period, you learn more about them and therefore start to care a bit more about them and what they have to go through. That in turn immerses you further into the story, making the movie far more personal, almost as if you were there yourself.
And isn't that what movies are all about?

It was good, but the first hour was kind of boring. Not boring, just not a lot of action, more of a love story thrown into the whole Pearl Harbor theme. But it was an awesome movie when it got good! I'd recommend it to eveyone.
You think the girl was hot? Ben wasn't either. But the other guy!!!! WHOA!!!

Just saw it last night. Good flick. As kaitdemerus said, it's slow at the beginning (no action) but when the story starts pickin' up, its awsome. The effects are unbelievable.... looks very cool....

Well, I saw it last weekend and my company cried almost the entire time. Just wanted to think about it before posting my thoughts.
The love story was a bit much, imo. But my company loved it. It was tolerable to me because they did throw in some strategic planning and what we were thinking before the attack started.
As for the action and war scenes. I am moved. Never have I ever seen war scenes that believable and realistic that also showed the horror of war so well. The hands trying to grasp for life as others try to pry open the steel to try and free them before they drown is one scene I'll never forget. There are others.
At times it felt like I was in one of those planes the way it was filmed. The way the bombs went off more realisically than I remember seeing before. etc..
Yep, one for the DVD collection.
I still don't care for benny aflack though. But he was acceptable. Da babes didn't move me at all. But it may have been the makeup and hairstyles they used back then that didn't make them as attractive.
