HOLLYWOOD (Zap2it.com) – From golden guy to Goldeneye, Best Actor winner Russell Crowe could be the next James Bond. Fans of the Aussie actor and Ian Fleming’s famous spy would be both shaken and stirred should it happen. According to the rumor mill at MSNBC, the franchise’s producers want Crowe to replace the current 007 Pierce Brosnan, who reportedly wants over $20 million per picture plus creative control and would rather be doing other projects.
"I plan on doing one more Bond movie, I'm contractually bound to it, and after that we'll see," Brosnan told Zap2it during an interview for his latest movie The Tailor of Panama. "I love doing Bond, I mean, it's James Bond. But, sure, I'm ready to do other roles, too."
Given the heat he has now, Crowe would probably ask for at least as much money, if he were even interested. The gruff Gladiator is not known for being debonair, though he could recall the more manly tenure of Sean Connery, the first and most popular Bond. Also of note is that no previous Bond was a major star prior to being cast.
Being Bond made Brosnan, he was at best a supporting actor before. I think it'd be interesting to see Crow as 007. I never cared for Brosnan but he wasn't bad as Bond though.
