Just started this week; hubby and I reckoned to give it a view.
Don't expect any seriousness or super hi-tech; seems like a fun, entertaining show; we enjoyed it; nice to view something lighthearted for a change :)

About the Show

From Emmy Award-winning executive producer and creator Seth MacFarlane (FAMILY GUY, “Ted,” “Cosmos: A SpaceTime Odyssey”), THE ORVILLE is a live-action, one-hour space adventure series set 400 years in the future that follows The Orville, a mid-level exploratory spaceship. Its crew, both human and alien, face the wonders and dangers of outer space, while also dealing with the familiar, often humorous problems of everyday life. The ensemble series stars MacFarlane as the ship’s Commanding Officer and Adrianne Palicki (“Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.,” “Friday Night Lights”) as his ex-wife, who’s assigned as his First Officer. Additional cast members include Penny Johnson Jerald (“24,” “The Larry Sanders Show”), Scott Grimes (“ER,” “Justified”), Peter Macon (“Shameless,” “Bosch”), Halston Sage (“Neighbors,” “Goosebumps”), J Lee (FAMILY GUY, “The Cleveland Show”), Mark Jackson (“That Royal Today”) and Chad L. Coleman (“The Walking Dead,” “The Wire”).

THE ORVILLE is produced by 20th Century Fox Television. The series was created and written by Seth MacFarlane. MacFarlane, Brannon Braga (“Terra Nova”), David A. Goodman (FAMILY GUY), Jason Clark (“Cosmos: A Spacetime Odyssey,” “Ted”) and Liz Heldens (“Mercy,” “Deception”) serve as executive producers on the series. Jon Favreau (“The Jungle Book,” “Iron Man”) directed the pilot, on which he also served as an executive producer.

I like it. It's not over the top humor and mostly Sci-fi at this point and they are doing a good job of it.

Gotta admit, I'm liking it. But it's starting to get awfully in your face political only a couple episodes in.

I've watched the first six episodes. I'm actually enjoying the stories now. If you ignore the humor, many of the story plots feel like moral conflict stories from Star Trek TOS or Next Gen. Episodes 3, 4 & 5 in particular had a real good old-skool Star Trek vibe. I'm really liking it.

Yeah, I'm completely caught up. I'm currently almost liking it better than Discovery.

Nothing earth shattering but entertaining. It feels like they're going to stay more in line with a humorous STTNG vibe this year, and avoid the complete slapstick idiocy of some of their worst first season episodes.

I do love the series but there were a some awful episodes last year like that cringe worthy episode when they were disguised as aliens and snuck onto their ship.

I thought the 1st episode of the 2nd season was very, very tame and not overly silly, - which I kind o' missed,,,
I hope this eve's episode is more middle of the road,,, :)
