What a piece of crap. They could have done so much more with that story. What did they spend on this movie 30 bucks?

I sorta felt the same way after watching Independence Day. Will Smith ruined that movie. They just have to ruin a movie with comic relief.

Yah! I've heard so much crap about the movie I haven't even bothered to watch it!

Maybe some day if I have the flu or something.

I think the idea was good but the execution was flawed. They could have easily made it into an epic trilogy but instead they stuffed it all into a 2 hour movie and it just didn't work, but I won't jump on the "bash bandwagon", I didn't think it was THAT bad...

I tried watching it last night...fell asleep...
I heard they basically threw out the book and redid the script.

super bump from the archives! :p

i just watched this recently and was curious if it had been discussed on here before. i read the (1050+ pages) book in 6th grade or something...at the time, i thought the book was awesome.

as for the movie...not as hideous as most people say, IMHO, but definitely not very good. 3.5/10 overall i'd say. the book is so complex and long, that the movie was doomed from the start with only two hours to work with. they did follow the storyline fairly well, but it's so abbreviated that i can see how it would suck without having read the whole story. the movie actually would be about half way through the book too...they don't explain any of the aftermath once the bad guys are out of the picture...
