Damn shame. :(

“On Sunday, June 19 at 1:10 in the morning, a fatal traffic collision occurred. It was the result of the victim’s own car rolling backwards down his steep driveway, pinning him against a brick mailbox pillar and security fence. The victim was on his way to meet his friends for rehearsal. And when he didn’t show up, his friends went to his house, where they found him deceased by his car. It appeared he had momentarily exited his car leaving it in the driveway.”

That's sad. I was reading on autoblog that he may have had one of the Jeeps with the recalled shifter. http://www.autoblog.com/2016/06/20/star ... ep-recall/

Apparently, the new shifters give very poor feedback concerning which gear your are in.

While you should always set the parking brake in a running vehicle, automobiles with electronic shifters shouldn't let you leave the car in neutral. It would be very simple to have the car automatically thrown in park if the driver's door is open.

I have one of those '14 Jeep grand Cherokees and I've never had that problem. Maybe it's the way I engage it but I received a letter from them but since I have 2 months left on my lease I don't care to take it in. I'm happy with it the way it is. I heard the new models have a different shifter but I like mine. That sucks,

You know, I had no idea he was the actor who played Odd Thomas in the movie of the same name. He did a good job in that.
