anyone catch any of these last eve?

we checked out "The Expanse" last eve; 2nd episode is tonight.

"Childhood's End", we weren't able to catch yesterday, so we'll be checking that out on free on demand later on.

{ The Expanse seems to have pretty good reviews, somewhat higher than Childhood's End }

Not yet, but I'm looking forward to them. I believe The Expanse is an actual show and Childhood's End is a 3 part mini series.

Ya. They're trying for a series for the Expanse, which makes sense, it's part of a large 6 book (3 in the works) series. Never read it but the first book has been on my Kindle for a while. Just haven't gotten around to it.

I'm hoping they do justice to Childhood's End.

yes, that's right :)

[ I don't remember his name, but one of the actors who played a main character in the tv series, "Under the Dome" is in Childhood's End. ]

Well I liked the first part of Childhood's end. Fairly true to the book so far except for timing.

i have to say, part 1 of Childhood's End bored me for the 1st 1/2-hour [ hubby was bored within 15 minutes, lol ];
it got much better middle of part 2 and onward.

now,, as for The Expanse: ~

first of all, ~ even though episodes 3 and 4 haven't even aired yet, they were availabile on Free On Demand [ they do that frequently when they're really pushing a show,, ].

there are 3 plot lines going on and we're both still trying to wrap our heads around them. it gains steam with each episode :)

Childhoods end was overall a bit too slow, but follows the book decently well.

Expanse is OK. Nothing too exciting yet. Havent started the books yet. Hope it picks up speed after all the introductions are over.

I was disappointed with the Finale. It didn't capture the emotions of the book. There was an opportunity for a really great, moving speech at the end but it never really happened.

The romance between the mediator and his dead wife had nothing to do with the story at all and it wasn't in the book.

The whole thing was too rushed. In the book it really was a golden age. It took generations before the Overlords revealed themselves - not a poultry 15 years. They needed to purge the racial memory of their appearance. As such, the mediator did not live to see that day in the book which is why Korellen allowed him to get away with taking his picture.

Missed opportunity because the first 2 parts were pretty good.

Oh well. Maybe someone will do Rendezvous With Rama.
