VIKINGS, ~ Season Premiere Tonight [ 3/3/13 ]

new series on the History channel begins tonight; anyone reckon on watchin' it?, ~

One girds oneself for some serious hammer time when an opening fight scene of History's compelling and robust new drama series, "Vikings," delivers all the expected gore and blood spatter.
Yet, beyond its blunt-force trauma, "Vikings" turns out to be an adroit and even elegant surprise, simply by aping some of the basic skills of a successful cable drama. The care shown for its dialogue and acting gives it "Sons of Anarchy's" sense of scope, while the 1,200-year dial-back lends it a dash of "Game of Thrones's" medieval mood. And a relatively modest budget keeps "Vikings" honest, in a "Spartacus" way, as a caution for those tempted to take it too seriously.

I have it set to record - probably start watching it about 1/2 hour after it starts so I can zoom thru commercials

I saw it, very good series so far.
The also new series before it, "The Bible" is also very well done (even if you don't believe in it).
Both mini-series are on every Sunday night.

i watched The Bible, too : )
after that, i started to doze { oops! }; but i can catch up on Vikings via free on demand channel : )

all i can say is, thank goodness for the free on demand channel; there is one night a week where there are 4 shows that i want to watch,,!

we are really getting into the Vikings series

my mom says she can't watch The Bible straight through, ~ too much killing. i'm like, well,, that's how it was back then,,
