anyone been watching the new Stargate Universe series? it's decent and holding true to what they said it would be...a bit harsher, while keeping the core SG traits.

one thing that is concerning is they already used time travel as a plot...within the first five or six episodes. hmmmmm.

the SFX are great though...the ship is awesome.

Actually that was one of the rare time travel plots I liked. A different take on time travel and it caught me by surprise. That was a good episode.

My problem is that so far most episodes have been soap operas. I don't care about these people's personal issues, who's screwing who's wife at home, etc. I want monsters, action, and an interesting science plot.

But one of the monster is the other CO (Is it Lou Diamond Philips)back on Earth screwing Young's wife. Money says that is actually happening all the time.

I don't mind maybe the occasional 5 minute segue to the personal issues happening at home plot line, but not the whole damn episode, and there's been too much of that.

Plus there's some issues that need to be addressed on the ship:

- No one has yet visited the bridge or the engine room (all we've seen is a couple of computer terminals in a corridor junction). Granted a large part of the ship is inaccessible, but there's been no mention of them and you'd think the priority would be to get on the bridge.

- This ship is HUGE and there's only 2 (maybe 3 because we saw one fly off at the end of the first episode) shuttles? There's no hangar deck?

- The explanation for the limited control of the ship seems a bit lame. The computer has locked them out of the navigation system but they can shoot the guns?

Saw the first episode & was like, what's this. I don't keep up with Stargate (heck even TV) enough to watch a series.

yeah...that other ship flying off at the end of the one episode was a good plot teaser...but, if the ship is so ridiculously fast, how will that shuttle ever even be in the picture again? they have done how many FTL jumps since that episode?

Good point. Never even thought of that.

I didn't take the little ship flying off as one of the shuttle's belonging to the ship. All though it could be. I looked at it as more of an Alien vessel as in NON ancient tech.

i saw a few websites discussing that and they had stills and close-ups of it...it appeared to be foreign. then i wonder if it's an evil Ori ship or something from way back when.....hmmmm.

i didn't care much at all for tonight's episode (too much space drama...not enough action), but the small amount of scifi plot they did spend on was cool. thousands of new stargates out in front of the ship.

Yeah the only action worthy of note was the brief Ass kicking Tellford got.
