Just got the Klipsch's awhile ago, tried out a few DVDs', none of which seems to be doing the Klipsch's justice ;) Other than Romeo Must Die which has pretty decent sound :)

Preferable, no medieval stuff please. Jet Li and Jackie flicks are ok, although I've prolly seen most of them in real Chinese flicks already :)

Here's what I've seen already...

Just finished the movie Pitch Black, it was pretty decent, although not too spectacular. Not really my kinda movie.

Fight Club was pretty good as well, especially the air plane crash scene.

Gone in 60 Seconds, must say, sorry car lovers, but this was the worst purchase of 'em all. I usually like the Cage films, but not this one.

X-Men, its one of those movies where you watch once and off to the corner it goes eating dust.

World is Not Enough, not as good as Tomorrow Never Dies.

Wild Things was alright for a one-timer.

So I'm kinda itching for another DVD action flick, any recommendations? Something that's THX certified would be nice too.

LMK thanks,
Pluckster

With great sounds I can think of The Fifth Element, Starship Troopers, Heat, The Hunted, Blade and T2. Not sure if they all are THX certified though offhand. For a great sounding Cage film try Face/Off.

Play scene 32 in Heat. It's by far one of the best gun battles ever created for the big screen. With tall buildings on both sides of the street you hear everything echo in surround. Damnit now I have to watch this scene again. Thanks.

Heat sounds like fun :) What's it about fellas, without giving the whole movie away ;)

Talking about VCDs, I have quite a few myself. Most of 'em are a mix bag when it comes to quality. The ones that are good are VERY good, definitely comparable to a DVD if you watch from a distance :) Sounds aren't as great though, sometimes they can get out of synch.

BTW, for those who might not know. VCD uses Mpeg-1. It has became very popular in Asia, even more so that DVD, and a new SVCD standard has already been set. I believe they're using that standard so as we speak :)

My low budget Raite DVD player can do VCDs too, so that's quite sweet :)

Heat is about the lives of professional bank robbers and the cops who try to catch them. Some of it is drama mixed in but then there are those immortal shootouts that really kick ass. And 2 acting legends, Al Pacino and Robert DeNiro plus a fine supporting cast too.

Heat stars Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Val Kilmer, Jon Voight, Tom Sizemore, and Ashley Judd. It's basically your standard cops and robbers movie with a lot of great twists.

edit: nice blade, you beat me to the punch by seconds. lol

Didn't find Heat, but got Dinosaurs today. The computerized animation was truly quite amazing, everythings seems to come alive. No mip-mapping errors ;) Played quite nicely on the lappy, even better so on the big screen 32" TV w/the klipschs. The sound was equally impressive..., the music blended very well with the movie.

Wonder when will PC games look as amazing as they do in this movie eh? *drooling*

just a reminder, THX is a sound certification, not a format, correct?

I have to imagine that Saving Private Ryan would do justice to the Klipsch's. One of the finest war films ever created IMHO, and with full surround sound happening, the battle scenes would be incredibly intense.
