Saw this last week with my wife and 11yr old, only to be disappointed in the character of Jack Sparrow, and the poorly developed plot and script. In the first flick, he was Mr Cool - reminded me of the character Fonzie on Happy Days. His character in this film was completely different IMHO. He seems more "gay" and not as cool.
The special effects were excellent. Probably some of the best I've seen in a while. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking at times and the special effects for Davy Jones character are absolutely remarkable.
The ending is completely painful. The movie just stops abruptly and the credits roll. You stand up out of your seat and look at the other people in the audience who are puzzled by the abrupt ending. This is a movie that I will not own, even if it was given to me for free. Hopefully they can recover and #3 might be a better movie.
I give it 2 out of 5 stars, and those stars are for the visuals and special effects.
