The Last Samurai.
MAN! This was one hell of a movie, I had to piss like a race horse about 1 hour into it and couldnt leave.
Tom Cruise was very good in it but KEN WATANABE, who plays Katsumoto, the Lead Samurai to me stole the movie , he didnt do much acting in relation to Cruise but was awesome none the less.
Definatly a must see.

not ONE thing I agree with there.
Boaring, stupid, and rather political.

I've seen the previews but it "appears" as if Tom Cruise is a Samurai and IF so, that notion somewhat bothers me as he's hardly Asian and I'd have to think any Samurai must be an Asian dude, right?
So far, I'm thinking that I can wait to see it when it's at Blockbuster.

The storyline has nothing to do with him being asian or not.

I thought it was a pretty damn good movie. I didn't really know what to expect but I walked away enjoying it. The action was very well done, the acting was superb throughout, well laid out story... ...overall a very good flick, in my opinion.

Definitly. I don't even consider Tom Cruises role as being 'the last samuri'---I don't know if this is what they wanted or not, but I didn't get this impression. I just saw it as a story about the samuri told through someone who held as a prisoner of war.

Damn good movie Evil. The last Samurai is not Tom Cruise, but Katsumoto who is killed at the end with the modernization of the military.Originally posted by Hipnotic_Tranz

Maybe it's just me, but I just don't see cruise as being believable as a 'great warrior'. Which is what he seems to prefer to play. He seems more logical to play a pee wee type. Or maybe in a comedy/romance flick.

Hehe, I thought the exact same thing, as my wife wanted to go and see it, but I decided not to for the same reasons. Then I saw it posted in the newsgroups and watched a cam copy of it. I was really imprested with the movie. It was not what I thought it would be - Tom Cruise as the last samurai. This will be one that I will go to the theater to see, or buy the DvD when released.Originally posted by blade
