Not many movies support the DTS feature, I am assuming because of size consumption but how much better is the quality. I am pretty sure it is normal 5.1 sound with a higher data rate stream then what the default is for Dolby Digital. Anyways would it be worth it to rent a movie just for this feature to test out my sound setup? My DVD player does support DTS, as well as my receiver.
thanks,
skeet

I am by no means a pro in this field, but I would say it does sound better, the sound is true digital and it is more accurately "separated" to each speaker for a better "surround experience"... or something like that... :)

It is rather close!

There are some noticable differences but not enough to discourage one from switching to the other!! Use what u got!!!!

All depends on your setup... I have my system setup for DTS EX (7.1) and it definitely beats DD (Dolby Digital). However, both are great for whichever best suits your needs (and system).

DTS is way better in some instances. There's a demo CD that shows what DTS can do (it has The Eagle's Hotel California and a scene from Saving Private Ryan and a few other things on there) and it's pretty amazing when hooked up to some nice speakers.

yeah my friend just got his yamaha 6.1 DTS receiver today and we "tested" out saving priv ryan (For 3 hrs). beats the pants off DD 5.1 i'm sorry to say. it was pretty decent, and now he has some nice JBL bookshelf speakers and a 5.1 DTS/DD receiver that i'm considering taking off his hand.
