I know some of you have a pretty extensive collection, and I'm sure we've all made a wrong choice once or two. My dumb choice was *sigh* Mission to Mars. When looking at the other movies I own, people always ask why I own M2M. I just don't have a good answer for them. I really like the special effects, so that was why I bought it, but what a lame reason in retrospect
Final Destination was also a questionable purchase, but I actually liked that movie for what it was, which is a teeny horror picture that was a lot better than scream/I Know etc.
The Die Hard Trilogy I take no responsibility for, because it was given to me. This was when Fox first started making DVDs, and the quality was godawful.
-Ronin
-10th anniversary edition Edward Scissorhands

-The Cider House Rules
-The End of the Affair
-The Red Violin
-The Sweet Hereafter
-American Beauty
-Saving Private Ryan
-Mission Impossible
-Gladiator
-Fantasia 2000
-Seven
-Seven 2-disc re-release
-Rushmore: Criteron re-release

-Magnolia
-The Matrix
-Contact
-The Hudsucker Proxy
-2001: A Space Odessey
-Die Hard Trilogy
-Mission to Mars
-Final Destination
I'm pretty happy with that list. I've seen some really bad movies in people's collections. End of Days and Battlefield Earth should never have seen the light of day

End of Days was okay (I like dark evil movies like that).
But I wish I never bought American Pie and Wild Things... oh god are those two DUMB movies.

I rent dvd's before I buy them. If I like 'em I'll buy them, if not then I don't.

Here's a list of my stinkers gallery...
Apt Pupil
Deep Blue Sea
Deep Rising
Virtuosity
Resevoir Dogs
Blade Runner (I know some of you will think its blasphemey but it doesn't get it for me)
Lost in Space
Soldier
And a real stinker -->
Saturday Night Live's 25th Anniversary
Don't buy it! It only shows bits an pieces of skits, virtually leaving out most of the funniest moments, what an utter waste of good money! You have been warned.
There are a few that I feel kinda "eh" about but we'll save that for another thread.

hip <--- I love that smiley hehe

I love the Die Hard films, especially the first 2. They're 2 of my all-time favorites easily. I didn't think Soldier and Deep Rising were bad, just a one time watch though.
I did get Deep Blue Sea for 9.99 and then later asked myself, why. Otherwise I usually only buy DVD's that I know I want.

I still haven't seen Resevior Dogs yet! I may rent it someday though. The don't regret any I've purchased, I am rather selective about what I buy!

Reservoir Dogs has it's moments (some pretty vicious moments I might add), but overall, it felt a little empty to me. I guess it just wasn't what I thought it would be.
Maybe I'll have to dig it out and give it another view.
Ronin was one I picked up awhile back and I was pleasantly surprised. I never even heard of it until my nephew told me about it. DeNiro played an excellent part.
That movie rocked!
Like some of you guys said, I'm usually pretty selective myself, but I do manage to get suckered now an then. (dang it

) hehe
Now I enjoyed Die Hard. I really liked the first one, the second one... well, you know how second ones usually are. It was ok.
The third one I've never seen.
Is DH 3 worth a view ?

VonJames - Die Hard 3 is awsome. Now this is just my opinion, but I believe it's about as good as the first.
Oh, and if you don't like Blade Runner, how about you give it away to "charity" (ie: me?) hehe

I just don't think Die Hard Trilogy is good enough to buy. Die Hard 2 I must have watched 10,000 times, but I just don't think I could watch it again. It seems so dated. Action movies are a lot harder to enjoy 10 years later I think. That's why I stick to the dramas pretty much.
Speaking of Die Hard, I'm thinking of having a giveaway for the trilogy, and my older copy of Seven. I just don't know if it's worth it to bother selling them. What're they worth in used condition anyway?
Oh, and Von, you need a serious reworking of your quality control setup hehe. That's an awful lot of bad movies that you don't like in retrospect

the die hard trilogy is about $50 new... so I guess it depends on the condition. I'll buy seven for $14 if you want to sell it (best buy was $15 today).
Tunis5000: my fiance got me that movie for christmas... she won't let me sell it. "I thought you liked submarine movies? you've got crimson tide, and hunt for the red october, so what's wrong with this one?" was the line of questions I got

Sorry Hypno, it's already gone through the VonJames patented shredder. hehe
I'll check out DH 3 eventually, then I'll see how it goes from there.
Btw, what's the basic storyline for DH 3 ?
Part 1 was in a big building, part 2 was at an airport, what's up with # 3 ?
Well guste, as far as quality control... You know how you can have a bad hair day....

Actually, some I bought on recommendation from others.
I guess the other stinkers were a result of money burning in my pocket and being in a video store at the same time.
A dangerous combination!
:tongue

I think this is the story for Die Hard 3
Was it called Die Hard With A VEngeance?
The much put-upon John McClane is targeted by a psychotic terrorist who uses New York City as a dartboard for his bombing strikes while McClane tries to avoid becoming the bull's eye. This time the wily cop is assisted by a civilian explosives expert named Zeus Carver (Jackson).
