What does your HT system look like?

Post by Hipnotic_Tranz »

Specs wise/picture wise, both would be cool too look at :) I finally ordered my last component, the sub. So far the system consists of:

Klipsch Quintets (surrounds)
Klipsch KSC-C1 (center)
SVS 25-31PCi (just ordered today!)
Pioneer D-509s
older GE 27" T.V.
my 1.4GHz Athy hooked up to my t.v. with s-video for DVD lovin' :D

I'll try to get some pics of my room somtime after my sub arrives..... .....so what about you guys? What kinda stuff do ya'll have?

- Yamaha RX-V795a Receiver
- Pioneer DV-525 DVD Player (codefree, all voltages, all TV-standards)
- Energy Take5 speakers with the ES-8 sub
- Panasonic NV-HD70 6-Head VCR (all TV-standards, all voltages)

As usual, my HT's in a constant state of being upgraded with differen speakers, etc etc.

Currently, I'm using my dads old Telefunken Monitors:

My sub (when I finish it, there will be 4 legs on the driver's baffle and it'll be pointed to the ground. Lousy weather is too cold for contact cement to glue properly :( )

THX? No problem raping that spec :D

Paradigm CC-170
Paradigm Titans
10" 150 Watt Kenwood sub
No-name 2-way surrounds (soon to be paradigm ADP-170's)
Denon AVR 1601 reciever
27" Panasonc TV w/ component inputs (weak point in system)
Toshiba SD-2200 (also a weak point)

What we need is a thread where you can design your dream HT...

This is like asking to built the BEST HT ... it's the same as asking about the best Linux distro, plain and simple a never ending story.
You can find endless threads in HT related forums about "The best HT" or "The dream HT" going round and round.

btw, HT is a very expensive "hobby" once you get bitten by the HT bug ... that is when you see other with a bigger TV, a better receiver, speakers making yours look bad, surpreme cabling etc. and you think your HT needs to be improved :D

HT setup:

Toshiba 55" (4:3) HDTV
Pioneer DV434 Progressive Scan DVD player (component YPbPr hookups)
Cambridge Soundworks DTT2500's.

saving up for a REAL 5.1 solution, but this one works reasonably well for the time being. In our house, we have this weird TV crevice that only fits the bigscreen, no room for anything else.

Ok, lets start by what you see when you first walk in (sorta, and sorry for the crappy pics)

Image Image

So after walking in the door way, you turn to your right a tad and heres what you see:
Image Image
Image Image

If ya look in the closet you can see my monitor. In the above pics, my actual PC is next to my entertainment center. I have s-video running out from my computer to my T.V. so I can watch DVD's and other misc movies I download. I also have a hoard of MP3's and I use my live! drive to access them from my couch like a big jute-box :D
Image

Speaking of couch, here is a horrible picture of it with my camera bag in the way :)
Image

And last, but not least, the lonely corner where my SVS will go when I recieve it from UPS tomorrow (the 18th!)
Image

[edit]
notice the "comming soon" sign I took from work <> One of these days I'll get some movie posters to hang up...
