Question about sound on DVD

Post by kin »

Is there any way to adjust the music on the DVD vs the dialog??? Its just seems that the music overpowers the dialog. I can sometimes barely hear the speaking over the sound. eg. The music seems 2x vs the dialog 1x

I still play the movies off my 2 speakers on my TV till I get a cool receiver hookup set up. :)

Anyone else notice this or is it just me.

Thoughts????

It might be because of the speakers you are using. I've never noticed that on various setups. Once you get a receiver you'll have various settings which can control that, I doubt you have that with your tv speakers,

Try setting the DVD to run in stereo or dolby prologic/surround, NOT DD/DTS.

Yup, and try fiddling with some dynamic compression options. It basically flattens out the volume range of you hear, so quiet stuff is a bit louder and loud stuff is a bit quieter. It helps with low-fi setups and when you cannot turn it up too loud. It's great when you need to watch a movie quietly.
Also, make sure your DVD player knows that you don't have a center channel.
