There's a new sheriff in town! Jurassic Park

But who will win the fight for KING of the Dino's! Yep, we have a new one called the "spinosaur" and he's "one bad mutha hush yo mouth!"

Image

Saw it earlier today, I was in a kinda zombie state taking some flue medicine but that spino dino is da baddest of da bad yet!

Well, was it any good? As usual we all will have our own opinions and mine is.......well I ain't gonna tell ya. :D

Cause I like being surprised when I go and no downers or "greatest movie ever' sphills. To me that's part of the fun. But I still read some the the reviews beforehand.

So, *********Possible SPOILER ALERT!****** Don't read any further if you want to be surprised.

Ok, it was more like BambiPark than any Jurassic Park. hehe, just kidding. The first 15 minutes or so is really nothing but filler. A slight point that we learn later is relevant but if you really want to wait in line for some snacks then you'll not miss anything. Even the "point" is too subdued to be of much interest.

Now, once the action starts get ready for the real King of da jungle. This spino dino IS one bad mutha! While lacking the magic of T Rex's first appearance this spino dino makes up for it in other ways though. Bad thing is some scenes are filmed from ridley scotts school of action scenes and are too close. The main one is waaaaay too short. Let me repeat that, waaaaaay too short and filmed too close to see what all was going on. And others too dark. But maybe that's just me. Then again I was 3 rows back, hehe.

But don't worry, there are some real kick-ass scenes with this puppy later and he makes it real clear he wants human snack. Guess he's tired of eating the other wildlife around and wants a change. Hey we all get bored with what we eat sometimes too.

The rapters are back. They're too smart to not be around. This time we learn more of how smart they really are. They have some of the better lines in the movie actually. :D

As for mr t rex, well you'll see. I ain't gonna spoil all the fun.

The actions scenes, even counting the ones filmed too close and too dark there are enough good to make up for those. And frankly that's about all this movie is. The good action dino scenes. The "in between" is mostly boring, but with a few exceptions.

And is it just me who thinks that Tea Leoni is one of the most boring female actresses around. She was dreadful in Deep Impact and the same here. Does she ever wake up? I mean, sheeesh. Like a talking dummy. I kept begging for any dino to eat her and I mean quick! The others were ok. William Macy was good, for what little he had to work with. Sam Neil was fine as usual. But at the first of the movie he seemed to have this permanant goofy smile plastered on his face. Maybe he was just so happy he was away from the dinos and that he made it out alive from the first jurassic park. But once he finds himself around more that smile goes away.

All in all it is far more enjoyable that JP 2, but not up to par as the first jp. It'd be very difficult to top that anyway. My ratings: JP - 10, JP 2 - 4, JP3 - 7. If jp3 had better filler it'd be much better. It was only 92 minutes long but seemed more like 3 hours thanks to the boring in betweens.

Oh and btw. I'll probably see it at least once more on da big screen. :D

Very few ever go there and I thought many would be interested in this. I know you were joking but this ain't gonna turn into a "wrong forum" forum. We ain't nearly that busy and I don't want others to be afraid what to post. ;)

I took another one of those "long lunch breaks" today and went with 2 other co-workers to see this movie. I was very happy with it until the last 5 minutes... then it all went to hell. Come on here people, is it that hard to write a decent conclusion these days? But like Blade said, there were some great scenes with angry dinosaurs on dino-sized PMS trips, hungry for blood, and that made it all good.

I liked it alot myself, but I only had one gripe. The TRex/Spino thing. That was just crap to me. I have been into dinos for a long time, and common thought is that T Rex was the second largest carnivore EVER, right after a fairly newly discovered one they dubbed Gigantosaurus. The Spinosaurs was nearly 8 tons _lighter_ and 15 feet shorter than the average T Rex. For that scene to have made sense, there should have been something in the movie to explain its massive size. But again, this is only IMHO.

As far as the rest goes, the entire movie was cool. Plot was somewhat lame, but you don't go to a movie of this kind looking for Gone with the Wind.

It's a very dumb film, but that's what makes it fun to watch. I think the short running time helped, along with Sam Neil in the film - he really sells it. It was nice to see Laura Dern in the film as well. :)

The part that cracks me up the most is at the end when dear old dad says, "Let's go home." Then honey turns after a moment and smiles at him, then the kid who should be dead starts laughing like a badly dubbed actor in a Godzilla flick, then Neil just shakes his head like he's thinking, "I can't believe I'm in this movie - but at least I got PAID!"

Other than needing a little more T-Rex, the film is worth a looksee...

saw it yesterday...opening night, so quite a bit of people

i had to sit 2nd row from the front....

i liked the comic relief in some parts, but the movie didnt take itself seriously enough in my opinion, and therefore wasn't as suspenseful or intense as it should've been

a decent movie, but not that good

rather disappointed actually...i haven't seen a really good movie this summer cept for The Fast and The Furious :)

Good thought Tunis. Never thought of that myself actually. Although, it certainly looked like the full grown ones we've seen already.

This movie didn't have near as much hype as either of the first 2 and not near as much advertising. Therefore it's gross was effected. JP opened at 50.1 million on less theatres while somehow JP2: The Lost World and a movie that most hate is the all time leader with the best opening weekend ever at 72.1 million. JP3 opened with 50.3 million. Counting the 19mil it took in on it's opening day and Thursdays gross it's total so far is 80.9 million.

speck, i saw KOD already, same week that I saw Final Fantasy :)

The action scenes were cool, and it was pretty funny, especially at the end when the guy has that seizure. Just that Bridgett Fonda was trying too hard to actually be a good actress in the movie, whereas Jet has the same expression for every occasion, so that was kinda bad...but I found that funny, I couldn't stop laughing when the two were walking and Bridgett was like "blah blah blah, you dont understand, blah blah blah, all emotional", and then Jet was like "uh huh"

LOL

The one thing that made the movie was when the first of the twins was killed at the end, this guy behind me says, "oh no, they killed my broodah" in a thick german accent. My friend and I couldn't stop laughing, it made the movie for us :D

I was disappointed with JP3. The dino action scenes were REALLY cool. The Spinosaur was really cool, and so were the raptors. That cell phone ring got on my nerves though; it was going through my head 2 days later. :( :o I really liked seeing some of the more fabled dinos that were left out of the first two (teradactyls, etc.). The problem is that there was NOTHING in between these scenes. The movie was only an hour and a half long and 90% of that were dinos (not that I mind). I walked out going, "That's it??" There were too many questions that weren't answered. Perfect example: after the first encounter with the Spino, Sam Neil says "I wonder what else InGen was up to here." But of course, nothing more was ever said about it. It just wasn't done well at all. The movie could have been 20 times better without spending a ton more money on dinos simply by answering these questions. Not only that, it could have been another half hour or more C H E A P! The comic relief was ridiculous and so was the ending. It is all too clear that they were only thinking "Dinos, Dinos, Dinos" for this one, and the movie suffered as a result of that. I give it a 6/10 simply because it was entertaining if not shallow.
