Olympus has Fallen

Post by FlyingPenguin »

After hearing good reviews from friends, I was sadly disappointed.

I was hoping for an intelligent plot line, and intriguing suspenseful story, but the movie has plot holes large enough to drive a truck through. I can suspend my belief long enough to accept the White House being taken, and the President being held hostage, but I had hoped the rest of the movie would come off intelligently.

Unfortunately it's the same tired formula as Die Hard, which in this particular case comes off as insulting to Americans. We are to believe that EVERYONE, except the protagonist, are complete bumbling incompetents. From the Secret Service, to the Navy Seals, to Washington Police, to the military leadership.

Law enforcement officers and Secret Service in this film was apparently never taught to use cover. They stand out in the open and get massacred by the hundreds. All except our hero of course, who went to that special school at Quantico that teaches you how to use trees for cover.

I was yelling at the screen through most of the movie.

3 out of 5 stars.
