Aside from various shows and stars I saw in vegas, the real last concert I went to was the Doobie Brothers. Then Elvis before them.

In vegas they're not like real concerts with tables, waiters, drinks or a meal and nicer seats. And not as enthusiastic fans. Not nearly that "concert" feel. Still fun though and much more intimate.

There's a great little bar on the east side of Milwaukee that always gets great bands and admission is cheap compared to most "big name" acts such as CSN&Y that was just here, was tempted to go BUT $150 per ticket? Ouch!
So, at that bar (Shank Hall) http://www.shankhall.com/
-we last saw Walter Trout (an electric blues guitarist who once played with John Mayalls Bluesbreakers in the mid-eighties, perhaps 3 weeks ago now.)
Before that, same place we saw Carl Palmer (of ELP) who now plays with a 16 yr old kid on guitar who's fabulous. They played mostly old ELP stuff but with no keyboard player. Was better than I'd thought it'd be too. Then he signed albums afterwords and there were people that brought their entire ELP album collections there. I'm not much of an autograph guy myself even though I have a few autographed cds from various artists.
Same place, Eric Sardinas (an unbelievable Texas electric blues guitarist) who has Johnny Winter style but kicked up a few notches. Were seeing him again, same place 10/19 and can't wait.
Earlier in spring we saw Savoy Brown there too, always a great show.
The ONLY problem with going there for me is that it's a bar so yes, one must have a few beers and I have to work the next day (usually on thursday nights) so it's a bit rough but I now only drink lite beer there so the effects aren't as bad.
Another great thing about that bar is that unlike most concerts that only last 1.5 hrs at best, at that place most bands play for about 3 hours.
We get there at 7pm when the doors open, get a seat about 10' from the stage and it's great, never seen a bad show there.
Then there's our Summerfest that usually always gets many good groups too. That lasts 10 days and is always around the 4th of July. This year we saw Alice Cooper who I've always wanted to see since the early '70s and he always puts out a great show (have 3 of his DVDs too). That was alot of fun, great audience energy, participation and VERY LOUD! We got there early, were 20' from the stage and our ears were ringing for hours afterwords.
BLue Oyster Cult was at Summerfest too BUT they were playing at an 11pm show on a thursday night , too late for me when I have to work the next day.
We also saw Steppenwolf at another small place in spring. Same place is getting The Black Crows who I really wanted to see but the tickets all sold out within hours once they went on sale (online) and I was too late, didn't think they'd sell out that fast.
Let's see, last November we saw John Mayall with Robben Ford. Mayall's always great to see, I've seen him 3X's now in the last few years.
This city gets alot of good music really and (not getting any younger), I live to see many bands now as it's alot of fun and very entertaining. I have many DVDs of various groups too.
