Monica Lewinsky, the former presidential mistress who alternately runs from and toward celebrity, has signed to host Fox's next reality series, "Mr. Personality."

The show gets the coveted "Joe Millionaire" Monday time slot, starting April 21.

In "Mr. Personality," a young, beautiful single woman will court several eligible men who must rely strictly on their personalities to captivate her. That's because each man will have some sort of mask or hood on throughout the "dating" process.

Which is okay because, as Ms. Lewinsky can attest, personality is mostly from the waist down.

A year ago, after appearing on Tom Green's show, attending the Oscars, hosting "Saturday Night Live," giving not one but two prime-time interviews to Barbara Walters and shooting the HBO documentary "Monica in Black and White," Lewinsky told the Reporters Who Cover Television that she "would do anything to have my anonymity back."

In yesterday's news release she said: "Since Fox is the network that has had the greatest success with this [reality TV] genre, I was very excited when they approached me to host the show: It sounds like good fun."

The network described Lewinsky as a graduate of Lewis & Clark College with a bachelor of science degree in psychology, adding that for the past few years she has been designing an exclusive collection of handbags and accessories.

The network notes that she was raised in Los Angeles, lives in New York and is "considering a future career in law."

Fox forgot to mention that she was an internationally recognized Washington intern who had an affair with then-President Bill Clinton -- "la scandale," as she calls it -- and that she played a very large role in nearly bringing down his administration. Presumably network executives had remembered all this when they pursued her for the "Mr. Personality" gig. Clinton, of course, has gone on to his own television career, as a commentator on CBS News's "60 Minutes."

This month, Fox has been scouring the country for people to participate in "Mr. Personality," looking for men between the ages of 24 and 40 and women age 25 to 35 who are "single," which the network explains on its "Mr. Personality" Web site means "not married," and who do not have children.
