Hello,

This is Ed from DVDAF http://www.dvdaficionado.com where you manage your
DVD Collection.

I hope you had a happy holiday season. I just wanted to let you know what
is going on at the DVDAF and what we have planned for the future.

ITEM 1:
Last Friday we lost a router. Because of the weekend and the holiday, the
replacement was only installed Tuesday night. Although our server never went
down, we lost our connection to the Internet. This was the first outage since
early 2001. We apologize for any inconvenience.

We currently have thousands of free members and we are rapidly growing. A
site redesign has been in the works for the past 6 months. This new version
will go live around the middle of the year and it will address most of your
comments and suggestions as well as enable us to cope with the increasing
load.

ITEM 2:
Some of you have volunteered to help in the coding of the new site. We are
considering that possibility. The initial cost may be high as we may need
to get a separate machine, setup environments, coordinate efforts, etc.
But it may be worth it. The target platform is Apache, PHP, MySQL. We would
like to hear from seasoned coders and from those with experience in "organizing"
similar efforts.

ITEM 3:
As you know, DVDAF is a free site. In order to keep providing this free service
to you, we need the site to have some modest income. Rather than charge you
for an annual membership fee (like some sites do), I have decided to rely
on you and the other members to help us in making a small (and time-saving)
donation:

To support us, please Logon to PAYPAL at https://www.paypal.com
and make your sustaining donation to webmaster@dvdaficionado.com

This is also an opportunity to express your appreciation. This will boost
our morale by encouraging us to continue to invest and enhance the site to
provide superior service that no other site offers.

PLEDGE BONUS:
When our new site is officially opened, you will have a very special User
Title as a Sustaining Member. And you may very well be a Charter Member too!

SUPPORT BONUS:
Using our DVD and online purchase links at the website to make your online
orders helps too. There are about different 30 retailers including Europe
and Asia. The links pay us a very small minor commission to help with the
expenses, and it does not cost you anything more than what you are paying
already. Please use our site and the links as a one-stop for your DVD needs
and collection tracking.

Thank you for your continued support.

I look forward to your Sustaining vote of confidence,

Sincerely,

Ed

Note: If you believe you signed up to DVDAF in error and you wish to terminate
your association with the site, you can do so by replying to this email with
the words "DELETE ME" as a subject -- this will delete your online DVD collection
and wipe your identify from our database. If it is not too much trouble
we would like to hear from you on how the site failed to fulfill your expectations
(you can do so in that same email). If you expected different features or
services, what were those? Did you find the site frustrating or difficult
to use in some way? Do you have any suggestions on how we can improve?
Your feedback is important to us and it will help us build a better site
for those who remain. A heartfelt thank you form the DVDAF team.
