Interesting vid from Linus on battery repair. In the vid, he also mentions going to a recycling center to see how they are recycled. This was posted on the 13th of February, so I'm interested to see the followup.

I've made battery packs for electric RC planes. Would LOVE to have had a welder like that. I had to solder the damn things.

The sparks he was getting seemed to just be from the nickle. Spot welding will do that. I think he was over paranoid about the batteries when welding.

I never damaged a battery when making packs, but those were NiMH packs I worked on back then. I would be terrified to solder Lion batteries.

When I was cutting open the back of my old surface pro, I did the same as him. Open garage door nearby, fire extinguisher ready and a metal bucket to throw it in just in case I cut the pack.
