I have a lot of family pictures, home movies, and music I'd like to backup online. I'm just going to backup one computer since I keep the wife's and daughters stuff backup up on mine. I was looking at crashplan: https://www.code42.com/store/#/single-plan

I'm mainly looking at storage capacity and price.

I've never used any of these services before. How do they work? Do I select the files or drives I wish to keep backed up or do I have to do the entire computer?

I've been using JungleDisk for a couple of years. I backup my stuff and my wifes files. I use the option to view the files from any browser. Initially, I use the other option which was to have the backup uploaded, but then not viewable using a web browser. I think that FP uses this also.

My wife uses crashplan and she hasn't had to use it, but it's pretty easy to set up. We looked at what was out there and selected that one. You have a windows explorer type interface and you designate what drive/directory/folder/file you want to back up. It then does a full backup of what you've selected, but it takes a while. Then is updates the master backup at intervals you specify. You can drag and drop from the backup file. If I remember correctly, it may not back the OS so that you cannot copy everything back and then have the same virus go off. not sure if that makes sense.

i use Backblaze and have no complaints. restores are easy via the web and their pricing is pretty cheap (unlimited for $50/yr or so). i know a few people that use crashplan and also like that. you can't really go wrong with either, IMHO.

For ease of use I'd go Crashplan or Carbonite. Carbonite is VERY simple for non-techies. Crashplan is a slightly better deal.

Me personally. I still use Amazon S3 with Jungledisk. I have one of the old lifetime Jungledisk licenses.

I know Amazon gives 5GB of Cloud storage, available to everyone I believe. They have separate plans as well. You can access it the PC and via the Android and iOS apps.

Not what you are looking for probably, but certainly useful for your phone though. Easy automatic backups of pictures you take.

I'm going to try crashplan and see if I like it. If not, it's good to know there are other options. I have ~600 GB of pics, home movies, and music to back up so I'm going to wait until late tonight to start.

I use crashplan for my business and at home. I like it and the data is there when I have needed it.

edit: it looks like DrivePop is a reseller of the LiveDrive service, if that helps for comparisons. LiveDrive has been around a bit.
