saw this on MSN and finally found a video of it...most of them on youtube are being taken down as they go up. IMO...justice has been served. the kid defending himself will probably have a lot of retaliation from that kid's friends...it's a shame he was suspended as well. definitely a brutal slam...he didn't just pick him up, he threw that punk into the cement. wow.

I think if you watch the impact if he would have gone down with him his leg would have snapped like a twig on that cement curb thing.

Could have been much worse. Kid could have landed on his back, neck or on the uneven concrete. However from the short video we do not have all the facts as to what started this situation. I would have like to see not only the two fighting get suspended but also the kid behind the camera. Call me old but what is up with kids? We had fighting in school but it was usually over something, now it is just for entertainment.

from the article and a few other sites, the backstory sounds fairly stereotypical...the "victim" in the video was incessantly picked on and this happened to be his snapping point. you can tell he isn't confrontational when the little kid hits him in the head and the bigger kid still tries to ignore him. of course, only the kids involved know the full story, but IMO, this example was justified. there are many others that are not...kids seem crazier these days, or at least with the internet and video cameras in every device, it's just more noticeable.

he is definitely lucky to have landed on his knee for the majority of the impact...had that been his head...game over.

See I was that kid.. In Jr. High I was picked on by some skinny little punk.. Him and his younger brother where known as punks. They started shit with everyone. One day he was behind me and kept kicking the bottom of my shoes as we walked in line. We where near the end of a line of 30 kids.. and when the teacher turned the corner and we where out of line of sight I spun around grabbed the top of his head and pulled him down. Put him in a reverse choke hold and started to punch him for all it was worth. Cut his eye open somehow but he swore I didn't do that. In the end I got a 3 day vacation for it. Punk never thought about picking on the big guy again.

Being a big guy (Shut up MidnightSin) I was always a target in school. I walked away many times but a few times I didn't. Gotta say I side with Casey here.

I was 6'4" when I was 14 and in 9th grade. Biggest kid in school.... Constant target for the little guy wanting to make a name for himself. I was raised to never throw first but always defend myself. Defending yourself means END the conflict ASAP and DO NOT continue to attack. Which is EXACTLY what that young man did. If I were his father I would buy him a steak and tell him to enjoy his days off from school.

I probably fought 2-3 times a month and as I never threw first and proved that to the school admins I Never got more than a slap on the wrist while the attacker got nailed to the wall.

My son is damn near 6'3" and about 180 lbs in 8th grade. I teach him as I have stated above and to never use his size as an intimidation tool but always use it in defense of himself and those he love's.

Same here. I was the big chubby mild mannered kid who was always the target. One day some punk pushed me too far and got the same treatment. Never had to fight again. They just left me alone after that.

I don't condone fighting, and I am concerned that the punk could have gotten his skull caved in, but since it all turned out okay, bravo for him.

I dare the punk's parents to try to sue considering that video's all over the internet.

since we're sharing youth stories...i was pretty skinny growing up (went to college the day i turned 18...6' 0" @165lbs). i was bullied a bit in 8th grade, but always avoided a fight. come to think of it, i've never been in a fight in my life and hope to keep it that way. i began working out that first year in college...as of this week i'm just under 200lbs and about 15% bodyfat. i'm no fitness superstar, but not the skinny little kid any more. i'd love to run into the bullies from 8th grade now though...i've seen a few of them on facebook and time hasn't been kind to them. lol

Wow.. that's all scary. I too was the fat kid everybody all ways picked on. Only ever got into 3 fights and all were from me snapping after months of constant torment. After the third time everybody left me alone when I all most killed him by throwing him to the floor and strangling his neck for all it was worth. Got a 5 day suspension for that and my mom made it hell for me despite the fact it was not my fault.
