Charges in 90 seconds.
Imagine when the Gen 2 versions of these cells come out and start appearing in laptops and phones... or even electric cars.

Dont see many buiz's that would be stepping up to spearhead these in any thing other that rarely used electonics like flashlights and drills. First exec. to notice they could leak, overheat,or explode and they would never get close to a laptop. From 2nd link wrote:So this isn't a breakthrough, but it is an incredibly innovative way to build a specific kind of cordless tool. It would, however, take a breakthrough to make capacitors more than a niche power source.
High-voltage capacitors, after all, have been known to overheat and explode.
Would be good as a tag-a-long, have cap source for quick use and li-ion for long term use. Charge ur cell in 30's for a few hour use, plug in later long enough for li-ion to charge up for full days use.

Like Lithium Ion doesn't? The author doesn't know what he's talking about. All the ultra capacitor designs I've ever seen are minimally flammable. However ANY battery that holds a substantial charge (and they all do nowadays) is a potential fire hazard/explosion source. 6 volts at a dozen amperes is a lot of energy if released instantly in a dead short.First exec. to notice they could leak, overheat,or explode and they would never get close to a laptop.
Ultra caps (the ones intended for cars anyway) also have internal fusing to prevent catastrophic damage in case of a short circuit.
