has the cost of gas slowed your summer plans

Post by renovation »

i know for me and the wife it has. just last night we were asked if we be interested in going to Munising ,Michigan for a week, with the wifes sister & brother in-law. but with the price of gas. we decided to pass this year. its like 375 miles each way and gas going to be maybe around $5 gallon we said sorry. figure it cost us like $150 just for fuel .then theres hotel, meals ,extra spending cost. was easy to figure we might be talking $600.-$1000 for the week. plus i know we will rent a pontoon boat for a day. can't go up there with out looking at picture rocks national lakeshore without doing this it's a must see!
so we figure we just do some local getaways this summer with the price of GAS.
it just cost us like $250 to drive the inlaws car back to michigan one way from Clearwater ,Florida last week. and gas was as low as $3.65 to $3.95 gallon on are way up I-75 . :(
the Last time I was Talking to myself . I got into such a heated argument . that is why I swore I never talk to that guy again. you know what it worked now no buddy talking to me. :help

it's not affecting me yet...i have a short commute to work, so one-off trips don't matter much to me. the other effects are what suck...stock market effects...food costs, etc. just the cumulative is what will get us. :(

on the GOOD side of this: less teenage punks cruising around town polluting the neighborhood with ghetto boom-cars, etc. :s mile hehehehe

You know your right. I have noticed less of that around here this season.

Nope, of course, my mother would kill me if I didn't visit her at least once a year. Being 1000 miles each way is killing me though. Even if I get a fuel efficient car.

That was the same thing I was thinking. I guess the kids in my neighborhood have more money though, because they are still driving around.

I'm in a carpool currently with 3 guys. We switch each day. I do have to drive 2 miles to the central location, and its a total of 28 miles to work one way. We are planning on adding one more person to the carpool, so the pain in filling is not that bad for my 2001 Ford F150 Crew Cab.

I went from driving an F-150 w/5.4L V8 to driving a Dodge Magnum with a 3.5L V6.. I get twice the mileage, so no complaints from me..
