Damn Skippy! That was great! lol..
But, my Uncle works on Black Op projects for the government and other companies as he is contracted to do so. And the stuff he works on is so top secret that he can't even take the data out of the building other than what's in his brain. So I don't see how if it was that valuable they'd be letting this guy walk around with it on his laptop. Kind of leads me to think it's a story to, which it would, scare the **** out of this guy. Hell, my Uncle can't even tell my aunt where he's going or what he's working on it's so big.. lol..

eGo: It's called different levels of security clearance. Plus, nothing that the professor mentions is actually classified material. The first stuff is NIH (National Institute of Health) and is a federal division so that is why the FBI investigates. The 2nd type is just company info that when stolen is usually by another company so the FTC investigates. Anything dealing with pre-IPO financial stuff is SEC stuff.
But you are right, no data is allowed in or out of the buildings for CIA, NSA, or any other IC agency that handles classified info.

if his data was that sensitive he was wrong to have it on a laptop. I'm sure with all those credentials he could figure out that laptops are stolen regularly, even more so on a college campus.

the first point he mentioned was something like "redmond was very interested in knowing why the same windows install was in contact with them from two different locations".
i'm pretty sure at least that was bogus....

right...but the way he said it...it implied MS was somehow monitoring every activated copy realtime...which isn't the case. still a good scare tactic speech though. some kid was probably filling his pants while listening. hahaha
