Freaking Vet Ahhhhhh!

I'm ready to punch someone in the face!

Our lab mutt has been chewing his legs, tail and rear for a week so I call up the local Banfield hospital, bring him right in they say, we have a canx appointment, outstanding.....

So, I get there and we get into a room pretty quick, all is well.....

The nurse comes in, does a quick inspect, all right...

Then the vetenarian comes in, things go downhill. She takes a look and says ohhh....he has fleas...

I say "No way, we checked him over, don't tell me it's that simple"

She says "he's got fleas all over" and then tries to show me the fleas, and can't find any. Then, after about 30 seconds she spots "a flea".

Ok, I say, he's got fleas, we'll give him some advantix and we are all done....Not so fast. He's got a couple of red, irritated spots.... Needs some special shampoo she says. He also needs some anti-histamine... And since the shampoo can hurt his eyes you will need these "fake tears"

SHE ASKS ME "Do you want the fake tears?"

I'm thinking, what a waste "Nope, won't need em"

"Ok she says, no problem"

I'm thinking damn, all for fleas? The fleas and gnawing are causing a secondary condition she tells me...blah blah blah, get an exterminator to come in...blah blah blah. I’m thinking whatever, a little spray for the couch where he likes to lay and we are done. I do my best to get the hell out of the room before it costs me too much more.

So I walk out to the receptionist and tell her that I'm going to walk into the petsmart and get something, I'll be right back I tell her.

So, I go back to the counter to get the meds, I have my dog on a leash on one hand, the bag of crap from petsmart on the other and I'm holding my 5 year olds hand, a lady is freaking out over her Doberman’s neck hurting, another lady is petting my dog and the receptionist goes over my meds. I'm just nodding my head going ok, ok, she says something about shampoo, fake tears, blah freaking blah and I grab the bag and run out of the store.

So, I get home and guess what, the fake tears are in the bag, how much did this crap cost me I wonder aloud? 25.00 US American dollars, what the hell?

I call the vet, hey, you gave me something I didn't need nor want, and I told the doc I didn't need it.

Now, mind you, I live, no kidding here, three minutes from the vet, I called them 10 minutes after walking out the door. Not two days later, not two weeks later, I'm not trying to return something that I used half of, this is a tiny tube of crap inside a regular pill bottle; I haven't even opened the pill bottle.

"The manager will call you back" I'm told.... OK

Manager calls 10 minutes later, "I can't take it back she says, once it leaves the store...blah blah blah, and I told you about it..."

"Sure you did I respond, with my kid on one hand, dog on another etc etc"

"Sorry, can't take it back"

"It's been like 10 minutes, come on, I'm not scamming you I say, just made a simple mistake...If you don't take this back it's going to set in my windowsill and I'll just throw it away in a couple months"

"Sorry, can't take it back"

"IF you don't take this back, you lose a customer, you have gotten me feeling like "we have your money so piss off" I will never come back there" says I...

"We can't take it back; if I do I'll have to dispose of it..."

"I don't care if you throw it away, I throw it away, big deal...." says I...

"I can't take it back" a broken record here....

"OK then, goodbye"

I get online and find the corporate web site, give the home office a call, they tell me it's the doctors decision; he will have to make the final call. I tell em ok, I'll wait to hear back.

Then I get online to see how much this crap costs...care to guess?

If you said 3-7 bucks YOUR A WINNER!

So bottom line, they could have taken this crap back and put it on the shelf, no issue. If they can't do that legally, throw it away and give me my money back, you keep a customer... Can't do that? Then I'm going to print up some fliers and let my entire neighborhood and the entire city know how the place is looking to make a buck rather than provide excellent customer service.

I know people are trying to rip off businesses everyday but I'm not one of those people! An honest mistake occurred and I called in 10 minutes to work to fix it. They could take the med back, give me a refund and throw the med away, they are out 3 bucks and still have a customer, otherwise they lose a customer and will reap any and all damage I can inflict on their business.

I don't think the pet smart that the clinic is attached to is doing that well anyway, every time I go in there they are empty, one or two customers and only one cashier, Maybe I can get the whole damn thing shut down.

AHHHHHH

What is it about vets anyway, they seem to try and make you feel like you just are not taking care of your pet. My dog eats the good food, gets walked and played with daily and sleeps at my feet, he's not on a chain in the back yard sleeping in his own poop. They are animals and although I love mine like another child he's still a dog, it hurts to lose em, just lost our 9 year old pet last year, but the vet seems to want to make you feel like you don't deserve to have an animal, is it just me?

They look at his teeth, ohhh, they say... Plague.... "Oh freaking well, he's a damn dog! He's level of health is not going to be 100% just so you, the vet, can make money off of it!" We rescued him from a shelter (we always do when we want a new pet) would he be better off dead and made into gummy worms than living in our loving home, with a little plaque????

I'm not a rich man, I don't have 25 bucks to waste on a tube of meds that cost 5 bucks online and probably cost them a buck or two, and I don't even need it! I can see why many animals go without visits to the vet, the business is eating itself.

I'M PISSED OFF MAN!

I buy Advantage from Pet Shed for my dogs. It's cheaper than the Vet and only 5$ shipping for one item, 1$ each additional item.

your vet soundslike a dumb ass get a different one, our vet never does that **** hell even tell you whre to find stuff cheaper than he sells it. hes more concerned with keeping his customers than making that xtra buck. once we had a very sick cat on the verge of death i took him in and the vet was able to save him when the bill came he said i owed 200. i only had 125 he said np took it all and called it even.
