Use to live in virginia and went to school there. Charlottesville is home of the University of Virginia. Never been much around there but there are several civil war memorials and battlefields there. If you're a civil war buff you may be interested. The capitol of Va. (Richmond) is about an hour away. Same things there basically. Except far worse traffic.

DC is about 3 1/2 hours away (pending on traffic) if I remember correctly. Lots to do there and the Smithzonian is free and a grrreat place to visit. Especially the Air and Space museum. Plain awesome!

Otherwise, the shenandoah valley is just north of there. Are we excited yet? :D

Va. is decent place though. Good roads. Most people actually give turn signals too. Mostly hilly areas.

Gonna be there long? I think Augix lives in Va. , and I'm around 4-5 hours away.

Doesn't sound like you'll have enough time for a DC trip. Too bad, that air and space museum is worth driving for. Maybe next time. :)

What is the shenendoah valley ?

Just a famous huge hilly valley with pretty scenery. Very photogenic, serene and good to drive through.

I live at the very top of the shenandoah valley in WV not too far from Harper's Ferry - if you're around Charlottesville and can get a few hours Williamsburg is worth seeing. The restorations and the "living history people" are pretty cool

If you're gonna be in charlottesville, the best thing to see is to try and go to campus bars and hit up UVA chicks on summer school ;)
