I say you want to burn the American Flag you get tossed in the fire with it then that would be OK I guess.

It seems to me that people only want freedom of speech when it is something that shouldn't morally be said or done but when it comes down to church and prayer they all are all for banning it these days, maybe it is just me but seems like things are ass backwards.

I have to tell you I am pretty shocked as many seem to think it is ok to burn the flag. I am definitely against it myself.

I'm against burning it too but I don't think it should be criminal offense and definitely don't believe there should be an amendment against burning it

To me claiming freedom of speech then burning the flag that represents the country that gave it to you is kind of like an oxymoron.

You start with making flag burning illegal and then who's to say that speaking out against the government shouldn't also be illegal. I don't care about prayer either its should also be free, if someone wants to pray anywere, what does it matter to me. Someone wants to burn a flag whatever, they're idiots. I feel though that if we criminalize that then we are a short jump away from actually ciminalizing speech.

Doesn't it work both ways then? You start with burning a flag and next you want to burn the White House. It is a nice theory but I dont think it applies here.

i fail to see how freedom of speech {not being deprived of one's right to speak, write, publish sentiments, assemble peaceably, and/or petition the government for a redress of grievances} can possibly encompass the act of burning the flag of the united states.

There are two flag burnings one in protest of a rouge government and one against its country.

and it sucks when you have a 50.01% elected president becuase you divide a nation in half

You took the free words right out of my mouth.

I also find it very offensive when people in other countries burn our flag and we do nothing. Yet if we were to burn their flag it would be the end of the world. Such is the American double standard I guess.

i think flag burning should not be illegal but not encouraged eithier. then they might say we cant burn a pic of bush or throw darts at it or shoot it or well mutilate it in any way. that would really suck. oh yeah, badmojo, trout creek ny was still there undamaged yesterday when i drove through it.
