Anyone have any good ideas what contest to run? One that would 'hopefully' help to attract new members.

I would avoid anything related with logo design banners etc... Not everybody has the soft ware or even the ability to do that kind of stuff... if we want to be fair and get new people no matter his or her abilities we should do something, simple and entertainment that everybody could be part for example:
*-a new motto for PCA,
*-a math problem-solving,
*-idea for a mascot and name for PCA, * [EDIT] could be only the idea and the name for the mascot not the graphic or a pic... could be both .
*-computer related for example 500 words short story
*-computer parts photo contest
I really invite everybody to bring ideas, thanks.

Or how about create a FAQ for computers and ask members to contribute? Whoever writes the best/most concise/maybe randomly drawn wins!

yep I want a mascot too, to do it simplier what we have to do is to describe the mascot and pick a name , also you can post a very simple sketch which can be optative, then we can take care of bringing the idea alive
for example (just playing ok! )
1) descritpion: green monkey with a cpu body
name: amdonix
sketch : "optative"
2)description: memory stick with a bull's head
name: DDRamon
sketch : "optative"
well I guess the idea is not bad but need some polishing
*also should be good to send a one-time email to all the PCA members telling about this contest
