btw this is a really interesting publication....I started reading it online and eventually ended up subscribing to the hard copy

Although I agree it is a great program, I still feel parents should be more educated and involved with thier childrens lives. I have an 8 year old and I am completely aware of every song, Tv show, movie and internet site he is on. (well, mostly because they are all pretty much the same as me ).

But for some of these parents to not be aware of what thier kids are up too and who they are talking to blows my mind. Not that I think they deserve what happens to thier kids, but more like I am not surprised.

it's quite simple to know who's the bot. bots dont initiate conversation.

unless he got them to start initiating conversations at random intervals....

this is so very true !
i have some first hand experience in this problem - and i know for a fact that a lot of community's just don't have the funds need to chase these perverts down !
here they were one of the first to enter this world of arresting these perverts . but had to stop due to funds to support the man power need to run this operation !
and the general public are not wanting to pay more for local police and fire protection .
the INTERNET is a great time saver- and the kids know more about it and ways around then there parents in most cases . to most parents the computer - is a tool for school work and are scared of it !
some have no clue -except they know it type writer .
and this is a major problem . that will not go away anytime soon .

Change your AIM\ICQ\YM\MSN or whatever messenger programs and make your profile out to be a 12 year old boy\girl.

In no time at all, you will see these pervert chat channels appear before your very eyes.

Don't change your MSN, or else you might have a bitch of a time getting back into your hotmail account (damned Passport).

While I think parents should have an interest in there childrens lives i think that kids also need some privacy. What parents SHOULD do is make kids understand the risks involved with meeting people online and that is completely stupid. So the kids wont want to. No matter how they do it. But I suppose as well that kids dont need privacy when it comes to online activities. Alright nevermind what I just said. I think we need to take the internet down!
