There are all kinds of LAN parties, however PCA LAN is a one of a kind event that is different from the typical LAN gaming event. The thing that really sets PCA LAN apart from most is that it lacks in most of the areas that are required to make a successful event. We follow an old dirt road to take a look at a one of a kind event.
I can honestly say I am very proud of this. I mean this is just a once a year LAN that has apparently grown into a very pleasant LARGE event (not all of which I can take credit for).
So first of LET me thank those who need Thanking!
Adam of http://www.wiredmax.com for the website (which is now also getting offers from crucial for using the LOGO)
LOTL CRU from http://www.lotl.cc for the NETWORK & Power setup, I guess I wil lahve to get that kind of stuff my self oen of these Years.
KD Computers for there Annual product donation
ED for being Master Chef. U da cook man! and helping me a day after the LAN a few hours cleaning
Mike (bell ringer/Renovation) for starting this whole thing, which I THANKFULLY took over
Mike (kakarot) for helping me Big time pca 2k1 & 2k2
John and Jim for the paintball course
Oh really there are SO many of you to thank, I will just leave a Blanket THANK YOU ALL (patrons, donors, & anyone else)
Now with that being said, I would like to give you guys an incite of what I am thinking to do continue the increase in PCA's and PCA LAN's audience.
1. a MONTHLY LAN! no, not 100+ people every month, but closer to 30'ish
2. PCA LAN's around the Country. (I am not totally sure how this would work yet because PCA LAN is now sort of branded Midwest, but we can change that easily enough with enough work)
3. Increasing sponsor support to both the LAN and PCA. How? Well, if one of these guys: http://pcalan.com/sponsor.htm or sponsors listed on PC Abusers front page sell something you Need (even if its a few bucks more) Do your best to buy it from them and put PC Abusers/PCA LAN in there comment section. This really helps us out in future sponsorship opportunities for Review products, or for Contests.
4. I know PCA LAN's website is due for a makeover and it is being worked on. PCA is also being worked on from what I have heard. While I personally like Both, they are kind of dated and don't offer enough features to users or abusers.
5. Know of a sponsors for either site? drop us a LINE, and if you have direct contact info its even better. (I am sure you all mostly know by now the Local sales rep for AMD made it to the LAN, I can say that has been one of the biggest boosts to this party I have ever seen, after the party, I got about 10 emails from companies saying they were sorry for blowing off my event but after hearing from AMD they know they really goofed, and not only companies, but I have gotten at least another 20 emails from people saying they were gana come to the LAN but just figured it was run of the mill) Guys, we have something special here. Our forums are ONE OF A KIND! We really all know each other well and are willing to take a half a country trip to meet each other. but not only about the LAN but these forums really have a totally different feel then any others out there.
6. I worked really hard this year making the LAN more user friendly:
Added lights to the port-a-johns
added a shower
added a paint ball field
Increased player place (well because MORE people were coming)
this isn't a corporate LAN, its a Big ass neighborhood LAN (one reason I have tried to keep it this way is cause, who the hell wants to spend $50 just for the facility or crappy food instead of our quality BBQ'ing, and there is no way I would enjoy a 3 day or even 2 day LAN where you can only PLAY PC games)
7. OK, I really didn't think this out but I am sure there are tons of other things I was planing on saying.
Anyways, I am basically saying Thanks for all who have HELPED make PCA & PCA LAN what they are. We are one hell of a community. I hope we continue to grow and keep our how town feel on these forums.
Read the LAN review, Make it next year, and Spread Da word.
