So, for the summer I am working as a cook....

the day was goin pretty slow behind the line
(for those of you who haven't worked in a restaurant, the line is where we make all the food)
We were behind on some orders and one of the Waitresses comes flying into the kitchen and yells she needs bacon bits...
I am a short order cook, so I gotta get things done fast.....
grab the bacon, slap it down, quickly start choppin with the knife and I guess my thumb is the slowest finger on my left hand so it paid the price...

cut the tip clean off in one chop...

I was like...oh......not good, there's gonna be blood on the food....

so I ran to find a towel and yelled

DON'T SERVE THE BACON BITS !!!!!!!
one of my fellow cooks came to see what was up because somehow NOBODY knew what happened...
I asked him if the server took the bacon bits...he said why... I siad there's a piece of THUMB in it !! and showed him my missing chunk... he said oh sh!t and ran to check....finding that the bacon bits were no longer there.... we found the server as fast as we could and showed her what happenedshe shrieked, put her hand to her mouth and ran to stop the woman who wanted them for her baked potato....
she runs into the dinning room and sees the woman has not used them...Relieved she runs over to the table to grab them away, but the woman scoops up the portion cup and dumps them on her baked potato...a half a second too late.
the server stands in disblief and is unable to think of anything she can say to the woman....so she just stands...as I bleed and bleed in the kitchen...she stands and stands, watching the woman eat the potato and bacon....

now we don't know for sure if the tip of my thumb was in that bacon...but never the less....it's still a disgusting thought...and I feel ever so bad...

until I bust out laughing at how funny it is that I cut my finger !!! :D Still feel bad though :(

*-And to mention again... it is NOT for certain that the tip went out with the Bacon bits-*

anything crazy like this happen to any of you guys ??

How you could find humor in that is beyond me.

I was joking, like I said, I feel really bad about it
I will edit the thing about laughing ...cuz I didn't

the only actual humor I find is that I cut my finger ! and how much I cut yet...kinda weird cuz there wasn't any pain..

and it wasn't MY fault the bacon bits went out ! I was busy bleeding...

I used to work at friendlys as a cook.

The heirarchy is 3 cooks behind the line. First cook handles all the meats and prioritizes all the orders. Second cook handles all the breads, buns, and calls off any fried foods we need. Third cook handles the fried stuff and runs to restock the line.

Well since the 3rd cook is usually the new guy there's a little initiation they're all subjected too. Right above the basket where all the fries go after theyre cooked are 3 industrial microwaves (the core of friendlys cuisine...the microwave...). Now these microwaves are right about the same height as the average persons face...and when a fry cook gets overwheled they just whip the basket from the fryolator to the basket without looking...

At which point the 2nd cook will quickly reach over and pretend to get something out of the microwave...So the poor rushing fry cook with a basket of hot fries in his hand gets smacked in the face with a heavy microwave door.

Granted it hurts but every cook there's fallen for it at least once and we make sure there are no hard feelings .

Well I was first cook one night and we had a dishwasher helping us out on fries. We decided, what the hell....he deserves it....he never even washed his hands after doing dishes (i made him wash when i noticed...). So we wait for a good rush. About 2 hours later we're all a little behind and things are getting hectic...I told the 2nd cook not to smack the 3rd because if he got pissed and left we'd be screwed.

Well....a few minutes later the fry cook had 2 baskets of fries ready and he started to pick them up. As he started to swing around the second reached over and went to grab some vegetables (that weren't needed :) ). SMACK! The greasy lil bugger walked full force into the open door with both hands full of of fries.

3rd: in a little too loud voice "$%&* What the @#% you asshole.
2nd: looking all surprised "dude you ok, you gotta watch where your going"
3rd: "#$^& you im goin to smoke a butt."

Well about 5 minutes later the 3rd guy comes back. We ask him if he's ok and he seems like hes fine...not holding any grudge. It started to slow down so we started taking cig breaks. I went first, then the 2nd. When I came back from mine the second left.

I only had one order up presently...a fried fish sandwich with fries and fruit.

The second guy came back after only a few seconds. Apparently his pack of butts was missing...he asked me if I took them. I said no and we figured a waiter stole them. I told him where mine were and he went and bummed one of mine.

I asked the 3rd cook to get the bread ready for the fish sandwich since the fillet should have been ready. I told him to drop it and I'd put the plate together. As i turn to assemble the plate what do i see? A burned and greasy pack of camel hardpack on top of a slice of sourdough.

I laughed my ass...the second cook wasnt quite as amused :D

hahahaha
LoneWolfX1X, that's great :D so you know where I am coming from :) Restuarants are bad places to work... high stress, constantly making stuff, dealing with all the sh!t that comes your way...
it's good to have a nice laugh now and then :)
