Well, I'm on a 28.8 netzero connection at the moment. Losers can't even provide a standard 56k connection. I got a message on my answering machine saying it was going down and switching over to a new network blablabla and that I'd be credited two days for every day I was down. Oh well.
"Why build only one when you can build two for twice the price?"

Oh yeah... Comcast is offering me their "BACKUP PLAN" - a link to NetZero, who by the way, is also going out of business.
No thanks, I have a backup dialup if I need it (I use it for travel). Just feel sorry for the poor sods left hanging.

Wait a second!
Get this. Since I figured I wasn't gonna be able to surf all damn night, I decided to reinstall Acid and take a swing at the Garbage "Androgeny" remix contest. Well, after a couple of hours thwacking that around, I look at my Weatherbug and see that it's showing the temp. Wondering if that was from when I was on dial-up, I clicked it on and was surprised to see that it was current!
Looks like I'm on the air again (for the moment) and the mail is finally working too. Guess it was a local issue. Of course, they'll prolly yank the plug tomorrow for real.
I feel you pain guys and my previous comments stand. Good luck to us all.

No Internet!
I had went back to sleep a couple of min after making that post earlier and found out that the internet went down (totally) at 9am EST. Both of my parents were surfing (separete computers) and it suddenly cut out on 'em. My Dad called AT&T and was told (by a PERSON) that our service should be back up in 2 days (monday), and we would get 2 days credit for every day that it is down.
I'm currently borrowing my Mom's AOHell account, and they are charging her an arm and a leg for not using the "BYOA" plan right now (since she didn't choose it at the billing cycle).
I don't think I will be on much until this is back up (we're having to ration Internet usage since everyone's now sharing 1 computer with 1 AOHell internet access account
). I'm not a "internet is my life" type of person, but when you make it a daily part of your life and suddenly it's taken away, it's really hard to change.) [This is also leaving all those other computers around the house with little or nothing to do.]

Here's how bad it is: I'm using a POS computer to surf
Compaq 575
Intel 75mhz YES 75 mhz
64 megs ram
Matrox MGA video card
33.6 modem (ISA)
15" monitor
4x cdrom
This thing is slow as hell, but at least I have a connection and I only paid $20.00 for it at an auction.
Who was ever to belive someday this computer could do something to put a smile on my face
For the past year all this computer has ever done is run telnent and agent orange for the cs server.
Tonite it's my main computer.

Uf I don't want to die... I mean lose my connection
Honestly I'll be okay if I don't have my cable, but it won't be fun. My parents are out of town for a few days so there's no signing up for alternate (dialup) service until Wednesday. I won't worry about it though. Cox will come through. Cox will come through. If I keep saying that I might actually believe it
If you don't see me for a little bit you will know why.

AT&T flat out left the bargaining table, so that is why all AT&T customers are going down. AT&T is basically trying to bully Excite into selling at a ridiculously low price. They already breached their contract by building a backup cable network.
Most other companies are still trying to cut a deal.
