what do you think about US & China situation?

I am going to boycott any Chinese products up to a month after the soldiers are released. I may even boycott chinese food too.

Pidge... have to say it, but the latter? now that's just STUPID...

you can boycott Chinese-made products all ya want. i personally have nothing against that. but good luck... mind you, possibly a good deal of your clothing as well as everyday household items are made in China.

my parents immigrated here in the 60s, and i was born here myself. they've worked damned hard to get where they are today. my dad just happens to own a Chinese carryout joint near Chicago. he's been an American citizen for a long time now and is quite Americanized, if all of the country were to pick up your SMUG, NARROW-MINDED, RACIST-CEST-POOL idealogy, then you would be UNDERMINING THE AMERICAN DREAM ITSELF. that same "AMERICAN DREAM" is something that both of my parents have worked so hard to acheive. i don't know where your parents or their parents come from, but take note... you too are a foreigner in this land that once belonged to the Native Americans. if think that boycotting Chinese-American businesses is part of the solution, you might as well pick up a musket and go shoot Native American Indian yourself!

the world has enough ignorance and stupidity, i'm appalled by the fact that it has reached our ranks here.

Anyway, you're right about the Chinese food thing. I personally think I've heard enough Chinese disrespect for a lifetime. They are themselves a victem of their own government.

Having been a part of 2 branches of the military I can say this, there is no single country that could withstand our military force. Also on the same hand it is immaterial whether we defeat China in a non nuclear war, simply because we do not have the resources to properly occupy China and maintain a proper stranglehold to assuage our position against them. The Chinese may be a nuclear country but the fact is, this particular scenario will occur on their soil and in all likelihood they will not even consider a nuclear strike on their own soil. I do not want to start a war with anyone personally, but the days of countries trying to see if they can whip the biggest guy in the bar (the USA) are about over with a Republican president at the helm, this is the chinese putting out a feeler to see how GW will handle it. If I were in charge, I would give them their apology and then cut them off as soon as we got our people back (screw the plane it is a pile of junk by now anyways, I sure wouldn't try to fly it after the chinese have tried to reassemble it).

Being in Washington, there are a few people in China from Whidbey Island. (Only 30 minutes from here) The family members of the people still there are about a hair's length from flying there themselves (armed with pitchforks mind you) and taking their own justice. I don't blame them, but I agree with the comment above. Apologize, get our people home, and cut China the f##k off. I only wonder how you people with kids are gonna tell your little boys and girls why Toys R Us is going out of business......

I am really sorry. I meant the first part, but the second part was really just a poorly attempt at a joke. I had chinese food today for lunch anyways at a place I generally go cause the food is good and the owners are very friendly. It isn't the Chinese citizens that are to blame but the Chinese government. But I do feel Americans need to do something and the only thing I can think of is boycotting Chinese imports for now.

BTW, I am 25% chinese also.

If it was that easy then yeah, let's apologize if that's what it will take to get our people back. Then I agree, they can go fvck themselves afterwards. The problem with us apologizing is it sets us up for responsibilty and they'll then probably have a trial and demand restitution. A trial there who knows how long that will take and what the outcome would be. I can envision our people tortured and then later shot. Then we'd really have to make china a nice desert landscape. So I believe that is why we will not apologize, because of those possibilities.

The entire country of China is not to blame, just the high and mighty a**holes indivdually responsible for keeping the women and children here separated from the missing parts of their family. (big-a** sentence) Just send SEALS, kidnap the top 10 individuals responsible, sodium penathol their a**ses until they admit cheating on college term papers and make them listen to Eminem for 37 hours straight. i'm kinda with Blade there... i don't think the US should just throw in the towel and say "we sowwee" i wish China would stop making an internation ass of themselves by dragging this out any longer. although i don't think that even if Bush apologized, the Chinese would go so far as to punish the soldiers or seek personal retribution. knowing them, it'll probably come in the form of monetary retribution. look at what happened when their embassy was bombed a year ago... they didn't bother asking which pilot dropped the bomb, but rather how much big Bubba was willing to shell out to appease the wanna-be chairman Maos.

i think i recall reading somewhere that China has more nuclear missiles than the US, but few, if any of them are as good as our ICBMs and certainly wouldn't be able to get past the west coast. all they have really going for them is their sheer manpower. they army outnumbers the US by far, but we're getting to a point in time where if we did go to war (which i think would be one of the stupidest mistakes either side can make), it'd be 10x bloodier than if the cold war ever ignited...
