Kept power, a few limbs down, 40 degrees and 20-25 mph. Sandy took all the leaves from my front yard!

oh gosh,, this is sad enough as it is, but i learned this morn that these 2 children who were killed in North Salem are relatives of my parents' neighbors,,

my parents lost power/phone about 8:30pm last night, and the neighbor knows to call me to keep me updated.

my folks are ok { their neighbor tells me }, still no power/phone, and her hubby is setting them up w/a small generator. during our phone conversation this morn, she told me about the 2 children. i had been seeing it on the news but had no way of knowing they were related,,
The storm left behind a trail of devastation and death. Two children were killed when a tree struck a home in Westchester County, and two others will killed by falling tree.

New York State police say the boys, ages 11 and 13, were pronounced dead at the scene in North Salem Monday night. A 15-year-old and a 12-year-old in the home were also treated for minor injuries. The homeowner, who is the mother to one of the boys that was killed and to one of the injured children, was present in the home, but was not hurt in the accident.

Power still out. I went out at 3:30 am this morning and went to 5 different home depots and 1 Lowes. Several were closed and not opening today. The others had no generators and no idea when to expect any in from the mid-west. I hope we get power back soon. This is getting crazy out here.

My gas stove is working and we have clean water and my hot water heater is working. A lot of hot showers and layered clothing.

Make sure that you open the windows on occasion to let out the the carbon monoxide from using the stove. Stay warm & I hope that you have luck with the electricity.

DaMaN, where in NJ are you located? I assume not close to the water? From the news reports down here they make is sound like most of the state is underwater.

Stay safe.

geez louise, dave, ~ u might not get power back for 7-10 days : (.
be faster ordering one online than waiting for a store to get them in stock.
i am wishing the best for you!

no clue when my parents will get their power or phone back; haven't heard from their neighbor yet today, so i am getting a bit anxious,,

Looks like there are some generators down towards Frederick/Hagerstown Md - when I got mine last week the store guy said they had people coming from upper NY state last year...if you could nail one for sure it might be worth the ride depending on how long power is going to be out.
