Man this is a tough one. Could someone at bfg do that switch?

But why did he take so long to send it back, and still hasn't asked for his money. That makes me wonder. Damn, just wish we new the truth here.

Nope. If it was a sealed card, and the stickers were tampered with AND it's been installed. Say sorry, take it up with Nvidia. Send him the receipts and be done with it. Keep the GF3 if he will not pay return shipping.

i agree w/ CA, send a receipt and keep the card if he doesn't pay for shipping

there's no way the card's stickers would have been peeled even if he did install it just to make sure it was a gf3

When he sent back the GF3 was it in the BFG box? I had a BFG ti4200 and it had the card in the plastic form fitting wrap, ya know what I mean, its got the space and the card sets right down in it snug, well as a little experament I took a GF3 I just bought for my sister and took it to wal-mart with me, I know a guy who works in the Electronics department, and they have a BFG ti4200 well in no way does the gf3 fit in the gf4 space number 1 Too short, 2 to narrow/width wise., and looks like BFG only ships the card they make in the plastic holder rather than just the box with the little cardboard indention that hols the card in. So I would say if he just sent the card back to you without the box try to get the box for "purposes of research" what i guess Im saying is, if you had the card and the card rattled while in the box, it prolly was a gf 3 b/c of not fitting, if it was a gf 4 when you shipped it would be snug and no movement. I think this all makes sense.>>?<<

Hello all. Well were do I start?

I am the guy that Greg sold the supposedly BFG GF4 and received a GF3 on a sealed box. I posted on this board within ½ an hr after receiving the card and installing it .Link , and also emailed Greg right away regarding my concerns of the card being a GF3 as per WinXP, and NOT a GF4. The card did not have any markings on the outside as being a GF3 or 4, other than a 4600 half peeled sticker on the BIOS and a BFG sticker on the cooling fan. And I could not identify it because I do not own a GF4, neither played/used one in the past. After installing the card for a second time to make sure that it was not an XP error, I pulled the card out and (very carefully) removed the HS/Fan.

That’s when I found that it was stamped as a GF3 and not GF4. Told Greg about it and proceeded to take some pixs of it. I left town for a few days for work and sent the card back as soon as I got back from my trip. I asked Greg if he had another GF4 cause I was interested on that card.

I have never done any deals with Greg in the past so I checked his evals before I sent him the $$, like I always religiously do. I realized that I could trust this guy w/ my eyes closed due to his feedback. I feel as $hitty about this as Greg does. He has never sold/traded anything with me before, and I received a GF3 when I paid for a GF4, but as far as he’s concern I could be a troll and swapped the card, etc. Greg has been VERY professional throughout this whole mess. I gave Greg my home number and told him to call, or to give me his number so I could call him. He was busy getting some plumbing done in his house, so we never spoke over the phone.

I am new on this board, but have done some trades over at Anand and previously over at the old AGN BBS. I have heatware under Stout and also some feedback at eBay under tgfco .

I have read this whole post and will agree with 90% of what was said. Believe me, if I was in Greg’s side I will be looking for anything that I could find if this person was there to SCAM me, or if I could trust him. Well here it is!

I am also going to email Greg and authorize him to PM my name and city and state to anyone that request it. I bet anyone 1 million dollars that you will not find 1 person that has been scammed by me or with my same address EVER, and BTW I have been at the same address for 6 years now. I am a happily divorced Professional that enjoys PC’s, and gamming, and that makes a $hitload of $$ to be scamming people.

I sincerely hope that this helps in solving this matter and I get my $ back.

well IMO the only way to do this with no-one taking a loss is if greg sends stout the receipt and the gf3 back. then u stout, call nvidia and deal with them. Because simply put. If the box was sealed when he sent it, and its the wrong card inside, then there is no way greg could be at fault. So i would simply call nvidia and let them know and see what can be done. (and by nvidia, i mean whoever made the card). If it wasnt sealed then thats a whole different can of worms.

CaterpillarAssassin I see your point, but we had a problem w/o a receipt.

Just put yourself in my position. You buy a GF4 and get a GF3... Period! What did you pay for? What did you received? These days every store has a shrink wrap machine, so everyone might have access to them.

I am not blaming Greg and never will, but this whole thing STINKS !!

This could start a horrible precedence. :( One could receive a "unopened" box, do a similar switch and say he received the wrong item and basically get it free.

Because of that from now on I think it's best for the sender to open and check the contents before sending something as "new and unopened". But of course tell the other he's doing that, and why.

This situation could easily be reversed too. Either way, trust once again comes into play.

And yes, this whole thing does stink!
