they've posted blizzard warnings for 100 miles west of here in the alleghanies above 1500 ft all the way down to NC. That's a new one for me, hurricane blizzard - yikes. We're only at about 750 ft, but I wouldn't be surprised to see some snow on the back end. Supposed to get to low 30s over the next couple of days.

the link i posted updates,~ here is latest, ~
New York City engineers and fire department inspectors plan to climb 74 flights of stairs to examine a Manhattan construction crane that’s dangling from a luxury high-rise as Hurricane Sandy approaches.

Buildings department spokesman Tony Sclafani said Monday that it’s a daunting task, but “they’re the best of the best.”

I am just south of Baltimore. Middle of the storm just passed, we are having a bit of a lull. Rained like hell all day but no flooding here yet. Wind has been playing hell with the trees, but we haven't lost any around here. My neighborhood has underground power lines and I lost power for a few minutes but it came back on. Keeping my fingers crossed, my friends in Annapolis and Northern Virginia are without power.

We are supposed to get bigger storm surge in Chesapeake Bay as the wind changes direction from here on in. I am pretty far from the bay, so that shouldn't be a problem.

People who live near the Potomac and Susquehanna rivers are going to get hammered by flooding. Most of the rain falling from this storm in the north half of Virginia, Maryland, and lower Pennsylvania is going to end up in these two rivers.

seems to be settling down here - winds about 30 gusting about 45. Peak was about 60-65. 3-4 inches of rain, power's good. Center will move north of us tomorrow. Big rain bands seem to be hitting pittsburgh and cleveland.

Hope everyone else is ok.

Things are quieting down now here in Baltimore. Still raining, but much less wind. I still have power, which means I am lucky, lucky, lucky. There is, however, only one road out of my subdivision and it almost washed out during Irene. It may be gone this time..

My yard is full of branches and other debris.

NYC got hammered and the higher elevations of West Virginia have a foot and a half of snow.

New Jersey is also a mess.

Hope Darcy, WVJohn, DaMan are all ok.
