Here's a list of common misnomers from some of our customers:

Epson = Ep-SOM or Ep-SON
Hewlett Packard = Hewitt Packard or Hewritt Packard
Lexmark = Lenmark or Lemmark

Some of the common questions we get are as follows:

Customer: "I need an ink cartridge for my computer."
Andrew: "What type of printer do you have?"
Customer: "It's a Windows 98 computer."

Reseller: "Do I get a deal if I buy three computers?"
Andrew: "I would love to, but I can't, and I'll explain why. The margins on computers are very small."
Reseller: "How small?"
Andrew: "Well, about three or four percent."
Reseller: "That's rediculous! There's no way you're making three or four percent on these. That wouldn't even pay for the shelves they're sitting on."
Andrew: "Well, I'm sorry, sir, but that's the absolute truth."
Reseller: "Well, I'm sorry, but it's not. I've been in the business for ten years, and you're making more than that on these computers."

What I said in response, to this particular customer, who was a reseller:

"OK. Well, let me check to see if we have three of these in stock. I'll be right back."

What I felt like saying in response, to this particular customer, who was a reseller:

"OK, so how much are you fisting your customers by if we're making more than three or four percent?"

Cooler heads prevailed, though, and I sold three computers, without a discount, and made our three to four percent!

your internal network and an isp....while in a sense is routing, its not really
its what you call NAT or network address translation
a router can route between 2 "real" networks or non private networks
I know what a router does. A router accomplishes two things: 1) Allows networks of differing underlying protocols to communicate with one another, and 2) forward packets from one network to another. A "residential gateway" accomplishes both of these.

Your problem is that you think NAT isn't routing (which I realize in a very literal definition of the word, it is not). However, NAT is a protocal that allows communication between networks (be it public OR private). You could theoretically use NAT on a block of public IP addresses (why you would want to is beyond me, but you still could). So you could be using NAT to communicate betweeen two public networks.

But seriously, why do you even care? I guess your libertarian nature requires you to be mad at someone and this is just the latest target? ;)

give it up dude they arent routers...no matter how much you wish they could be
besides LOL nat only works in 1 direction thats why you have a "forwarding ports" section for your router to work around it

I was gonna post how my linksys uses 192.168.0.x for my main network but I have a route setup for 192.168.100.x so I can see what my cable umm bridge is doing.

I think you should be more concerned with people who like one I talked to today, didn't know the difference between the computer and the monitor. I asked her to unplug the network cable from the computer, she of course asked what cable that was, can't blame her for that, then told me there were only two cables plugged in. She was talking about the monitor! I've also had people ask me if all their stuff will still be there when swapping out monitors. this is much more important than if its a router or a gateway.
